Topic Subject: Brundisium goals met - scenario not ending
posted 10-01-06 10:32 ET (US)
I am in Brundisium, and my goal was a simple 1,000 population. I met this some time ago, but the scenario keeps on keeping on.

Although it sounded like this would be a military tutorial mission, there has been no military activity and I can only build walls.

Anyone else have this problem? If so, how did you advance?

There are a couple of "checkpoints" in that mission (tutorial) where you have to first build some walls and gatehouses. Listen to the text.

A Tale in the Desert
Flogging will continue until morale improves.

Ah, that must be it. I play with sound off.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

You ned to build a tower and then it will have you stockpile weapons and thn build an army. The map is small and space is limited, so make sure you do not run out of room before you have to build the barracks. That seems to be a common problem people have (including me).

Once you've got your infantry assembled, all 20 of them, you will be attacked. This is good, and you'll want to save the game here, while you learn how to manipulate the military. It's not nearly as straightforward as it sounds, so you'll need to figure it out as you go. You'll probably make a bunch of errors and get pretty frustrated until you do. Then you'll want to reload your save and do it right.

At any rate, the episode won't end until after you've defeated the attackers and have the ratings requirements.

Welcome e3harley,

Replay through the instructions and make sure you completed all the steps.

1. Build a gatehouse and a tower.
2. Stockpile 10 weapons
3. Build fort, recruiter and mess hall.

Maybe your mess hall needs food? Maybe the gatehouse and tower need to be manned?

I was attacked when I only had 12 soldiers, but I had no trouble defeating the barbarians.

Hehe Kach,

I was attacked with 0 soldiers even though I had 20 weapons - however was able to defeat also - had 2 gatehouses & 1 tower. They did destroy a bunch of buildings though...
Lesson learned - If you stockpile things they really will not be used in your city...

Hi e3harley,

as Kach said, you have to build a gatehouse and a tower and stockpile 10 weapons for the mission to continue - it is a tutorial and will wait until you do these things.

Just build a gatehouse anywhere and a tower somewhere and make sure you have 10 weapons in storehouse - you should see the instructions proceed...
Good luck!

I assume 'save.rar' is a winrar archive? I'd look at your save if it were a zip file. Any chance you could zip it?

Hi e3harley,

well, I looked @ your city and everything looks good...

All I did is click on 'stockpile' the weapons - nothing...
Then I added a shrine to Jupiter...nothing
Then I noticed your troops were already deployed so I clicked on 'Return' - once I clicked the message of the barbarians attacking appeared ...hope that helps

e3harley,
Step by step:
0. Pause game
1. go to Advisor - recources and set Weapons to stockpile.

2. go to a warehouse and set to accept weapons

3. click on your legion that is hiding behind the bathhouse and click return

4. Resume normal speed and after a while (2months) you should get this:

I know you can do it....

PS,
If you want to move on, all you have to do is

go to 'start new game' and click on Republic campaign; as after Brundisium the tutorial is finished and you 'll have to do so anyways...
But I'd try to finish this mission at hand first so you'll "know" all the details it takes to complete a mission...

Prefects and a few soldiers on walls can deal with the invasion,no need for any fort in the city...but to trigger the invasion (which is scripted),you have to have at least some 9-10 soldiers in the fort.

When the invasion is over, and your city has required population, you can move on.

Plebus,
0 soldiers works - it happened to me...

the trigger is 10 weapons and gatehouse and tower
/edit: forgot, messhall, fort, recruiter placed also.../edit

But you are right, no need to worry, just some factories 'got it'...

Quoted from kach:

You might want to look into the freeware utility, 7-Zip (www.7-zip.org), which will open both sorts of archives. Good not to have to worry about two different apps for this.
