Game update:
Game over. Check last page for details..

First, there was the Dutch Date:

Quoted from Jayhawk:

I was speaking to Pontius Pilatus the other day and we sort of had this wild idea of maybe having a Dutch Date with the other Dutch City Builders.

We were sort of thinking of having a bit of dinner together in Utrecht (as a central place) and maybe even bring a PC along to explain some of our favourite strategies.

So if you're Dutch (or anywhere near Utrecht ) drop us a line in this thread and we'll see if there's enough 'animo' to have a little get together.

We already decided the minimum number for a smal lget together will be two (Pontius and your's truly) but as we say in Dutch: Hoe meer zielen hoe meer vreugd

Then, there was the British Bash:

Quote:

British Bash 2004

When: 1st May, from 1 pm

Location: The Paternoster pub

The Paternoster is a Young's pub/restaurant, it's on the ground floor of a modern office block, so it doesn't look like a traditional English pub on the outside (but does inside ).

Its formal address (which is very misleading) is...
The Paternoster
2-4 Queen's Head Passage
Paternoster Square,
London EC4

....because it's really in the main road, called Newgate Street, EC1.

The Paternoster's telephone number is 020 7248 4035

Directions:
1. Take the tube to St Paul's station
2. Up the escalators to the ticket barrier
3. Go through the barrier and, still inside the tube station, turn right towards "Exit 2, for St. Paul's Cathedral, Old Bailey and Newgate Street"
4. Go up the stairs at exit 2
5. At the top, at street level, turn left and walk along the pavement at the side of the main road, called Newgate Street (do *not* go left-left at the top of the stairs along the pedestrianised path towards the Cathedral)
6. Walk along Newgate Street for 70 yards (I've paced it out )
7. The Paternoster is on the main road on your left (there is an entrance there as well) (it has a advertising board on the pavement that you can see for the last 30 yards.)

And now, we present the:

HeavenGames Hullabaloo!!

Yes folks, we've finally moved to the American continent, and you're all invited. Actually, only 28 of you are invited.

When: October 20th - 2004

Time: 0700 EST (forum time)

Location: Boston, MA.

The Econo Lodge in Boston is our chosen place of gathering.

The formal address is:

Econo Lodge Boston/Malden
321 Broadway
Malden, MA 02148
Phone: 781-324-8500
Nearest Train: Malden Center

Room Rates: from $50.00-$75.00 /night

We have rented out the conference room of the establishment on an indefinite basis. That's right - indefinite.
We'll hang around as long as it takes for everyone to get wasted or bored enough to go back to their actual real life and real time pursuits. You're going to have so much fun, I doubt that'll ever happen. So face it, basically - you're doomed to be stuck here forever. *evil laugh*

What're we going to do indefinitely?
Well, drink beer, chat, drink beer, discuss strategy, drink beer, LAN PARTIES!! Oh and did I mention beer?

So come on over to Boston and let's get this joint rocking!

The extended code of conduct for this particular meeting:

  • Nights will last around 72 hours or so. If night choices come in earlier, it will dawn earlier.
  • Days will last as long as they need to. If discussion lags, I will impose a deadline. If discussion picks up, the deadline will be rescinded.
  • Votes must be in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
  • Please be attentive and unvote, before casting a new vote. I’d appreciate it.
  • Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded.
  • You may vote: no lynch – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
  • The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.
  • Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing.
  • Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts
  • Don’t quote any messages from me. You are liable to get mod-killed if you do.
  • If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me I will make a choice for you, which might result you being quite unhappy
  • If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
  • I should post a vote count, ever so often, maybe every page or every alternate one. Please feel free to request one should you deem it necessary.
  • If you have any questions, you can pm me or ask in the thread. I'll get back to you as soon as possible, and with the best explanation that I can. You can also pm me if you want to tell someone about your day, or you thought something another player wrote was funny, or just to say hi.
  • I am always right, but not always accurate. If I've made a mistake, please tell my by email as soon as possible. If you try to notify me in thread, I'll have to to edit your post and you will most likely be mod-killed.
  • If I'm going to be unavailable for more than a day, I'll post that information
  • Most importantly...this is a game and we're here to have fun. Do your part.

    Full Circle.

Deadline has passed. Choices are in.
I think the idea of starting at the exact time that the first game is effectively out of the window.
The next few minutes will decide if it dawns in the next few minutes or in a couple of hours.

EDIT: Couple of hours it is. Let the suspense prevail.
And no, you can't edit in this game. I can because I'm God in tihs particular thread. So no cracks about it unless you want to be on the wrong end of my mod-kill stick.

Just as Zen got up to leave for the Hullabaloo, he noticed he had a new email.

    It was from ConLao:

    Quote:

    Hiya mate.
Sorry 'bout that. Got some news from India and I gotta rush back!

    Sorry man.
    I'll keep you updated.
    Cheers.
    CL

Zen sighed and headed over to the hotel. Quite a few of the guests had already checked in. He saw a few milling around the lobby and announced ConLao's news. There were some disappointed sighs but the show must go on. He sent a bellboy to collect the complimentary six pack of beer and pillow mint from CL's room.

Soon, the party started buzzing. A few of the ODers were bickering about which game to play first on the LAN setup. The CBers sat around chatting and drinking beer as they are wont to do. Ovidius was having a good time. It was his first time at such a meeting of forummers and he was garrulous. The beer helped too. After he'd had a few pints, Ovidius began talking about his latest acquisition - Children of the Nile. A few of the betas looked around with raised eyebrows because Ovidius was not part of the beta team and CotN was certainly not public yet.
"Yeah, I already have it!" he said. "Yeah, I KNOW, it’s not legally in the stores yet, but I know some friends who helped me "find" it, you know?!? nudge nudge wink wink"
Scandalised, everyone else could not imagine what to say.
"Please excuse me," said Ovidius, "I need to go to the little boys' room."
He stumbled across the room, knocking over a few glasses until he eventually tripped over someone playing a LAN game.
"I'm sooo sorry!" he slurred. "I kinda lost it there. Could you help me find my way to the bathroom?"
The person nodded and helped him on his way.

Suddenly, one of the late arrivals came in with shocking news. shelper was found run over just outside the hotel very early this morning. He was rushed to the hospital but he was pronounced "roadkill on arrival." An eye witness reports having seen a '78 Cadillac being driven dangerously in the morning as he was out on his morning stroll with his dog.
Poor shelper - his plight is like the rodent he was. May he rest in a single flat piece.

There was a shocked murmur running through the gathering when the bellboy Zen had sent up earlier came back, ashen faced. As he was collecting the mint and beer, he'd found a knife plunged through what would've been CL's pillow. There was a worried look on Zen's face.

Suddenly, there was a scream from the direction of the rest rooms. Bengel was at the entrance, green in palour, pointing at something and babbling. Jayhawk went over to investigate and the world fell from below his feet. The sight that met his eyes was disturbing.

Ovidius was lying face down in one of the toilets, a note pinned to his posterior.

Breaking of CoC 3 - Piracy
    Banned for life.
    Banned from life.

"My my!" muttered a gremlin, "I knew they were going to be less lax about interpreting the CoC around here but that's anything but lax!"
"Yeah!" agreed another, "That's almost laxative!"
And he is promptly pelted with a few rotten eggs.

ConLao - Kumar Shah - role blocker - won't be joining us anymore.

shelper - Reckless Rodent CAO - Mason is a piece of roadkill.

Ovidius - Angel Chris - Guardian Angel - feels rather flushed.

It is day one. 25 alive, 13 to lynch

Note: I shall update the player list with proper nicks tomorrow. It's rather late at this time.

    BOOOHOOOO!!!

I was so looking forward to this game! And I actually pre-ordered CotN today!!!! Spooky!! (So does this mean I am a good enough player to be considered a threat? That would be my only consolation!)

OK, now that I've read the whole thing, sorry shelper and ConLao too.

Do three people often die at the beginning of these games?

Depends how many killing groups/single killers in the game AND if they all choose to kill.

    or the Titans this year

yes, I would say two mafia groups and one serial killer, the ODer's being one of the mafia groups, as they play the LAN games and helped Ovidius to the men's room.

This also might be a little confusing if named characters in the game are playing in the game. i.e. shelper was recky

and Pip, the Econolodge? Since this is just a game I would have rather stayed in a more upscale hotel

you know, the more I think about it, Ovidius was banned, which points to Angels as a mafia group. Still, it would fit that ODers would be a mafia group also since they would be trying to take over CB Heaven

    Heh, yah.

It'll be interesting to find out who/what the bad guys are...and knowing Pip we won't find that out until then end of the game.

Could also be some kind of uprising from Cherubs against Angels/Halos etc etc. At this point the possibilities are numerous.

    Anyway, Random vote Berend

    posted 10-20-04 19:35 ET (US)     15 / 814
CL's departure is probably a RL issue and not a game event sounds like he just dropped out of the game, so we can't say we have 3 killing groups just yet.

Vote WeaveCaesar he's scum more often than not.

    vote Firebird

    cos he's new.

Why does everyone think I killed Debbie?
    posted 10-20-04 19:58 ET (US)     17 / 814
To throw a bit of logic in here. We have at least 3 (that I know) players who are great at analysing the game and picking up what players are doing etc. Ovidius is one of those three and I guess he was targeted early to remove a threat to the bad guys. So I think that we have to look at someone who has played with him recently to know what sort of a player he is. But that doesn't help me.

Anyway I don't have a clue as to who to vote for so I will go with someone who has a name that suggests something.

    VOTE: BAD BOY

Really just a random vote as there are a number of new names to me here.

BTW, what us a role blocker? Something new to me.

Does that mean he is a townie? The mason is a townie and I guess a quardian angel is a cop. Sorry I don't know all these terms. This is only my 4th mafia game and I am still half way through my 3rd one.

    posted 10-20-04 20:24 ET (US)     19 / 814
I think the seraphs/halos are some kind of mason group, clearly. Now, there could be a group of rogue angels, doing the killing (quoting the CoC).

Cliff, role blockers can choose a player each night, they block whatever the player was going to do (Investigate, kill, whatever, they're normally on the side of the town).

I'm David, btw. Apparently David is a townie because DSH is so inactive.

Adder, why would you role claim townie right now?
    posted 10-20-04 22:01 ET (US)     24 / 814
Roleclaim already ?! That seems pretty odd...but then again if he were making it up, David would be a bad, bad choice (a seraph *and* has played Mafia *and* has actually attended some of the RL gatherings...). I don't know what to think at this point...

I don't know what to think about 2 or 3 killing groups. It sounded like CL's absence was not game related, but then a knife appeared in his pillow?! That definitely sounds like someone wanted to kill him, which would imply 3 kill groups...? Either that or we have a rash vigilante (maybe one of the newer players, who didn't realize that randomly killing Night 1 is not a great idea...?)...

Oh, and Random VOTE: Jaguar because it's still early

    Quote:

Adder, why would you role claim townie right now?

Why not? It either makes me a target of the mafia because they think my claim is weird because I'm obviously more important than a townie or they believe what I'm saying and decide not to kill me...they're still not sure though unless they believe I would never lie (Angelic ).

Besides, it sparks some conversation and isn't bad or good for the town because this could...or could not...be a way of concealing a cop-like role (Because I'm a townie), but then again the mafia wouldn't believe that, would they and that might be my whole strategy to avoid being killed.

But if I am a townie and am killed because the mafia thinks I have a powerful pro-town role it's better for the town because they only lost a townie (Or did they?).

Either way it's risky but quite possibly worth it.

And David could be something besides a townie you know.

There is only one thing I can say for sure; I am David and am pro-town.

And yes, I left out the whole possibility that I could be in a killing group (I knew I had to bring that up because I know some of you will accuse me of being in a killing group).
