I just finished what could've been the most beautiful city of Caralis, but instead it looked like a complete hodge-podged mess! I've seen so many beautiful screenshots here of people's cities--in fact, I even printed a couple for reference, but no matter what I do I can't seem to make my cities look good.
I have to admit, the city was very functional. I played it on "normal" level and managed to get trade going very well, had all of my housing serviced by only one of every type of building needed to meet win requirements and a couple of extra culture buildings thrown in for good measure.
The main problem I'm running into is this whole multi-tile wide road thing. I never know just how large to make an area for something so always end up with between-road spaces being either too big or too small, then having to stick things like that huge forum off by itself just to have the space to place it.
How on earth do you all design an aesthetically pleasing city? I would love some tips!
