This was my first attempt to join Caesar Clifford's Century of Palaces Club, a popular topic in the forum. This is a city with no name that has 200 luxury palaces. It is built in a central climate.

The city was built in 4 November 2003. At the time it was the record holding city with most palaces and kept the record for a few months.

There are 1603 buildings on the map which is far from the 1999 building limit. If the marble warehouses and shipyards near the South-West corner are deleted, because they are not needed, the city would have 1550 buildings.

Even though number of buildings are not a problem, number of walkers are. There are 871 walkers on the map at the time of the save which is 128 away from the 999 limit.

However there are 517 walkers with destination, only 82 away from the 599 limit. The reason why this city is so close to the walkers with destination limit is because the large number of markets in palace blocks.

Palaces run out of goods in 2 months and need a market lady passing by before that time. Therefore many markets were needed with the current design which is not ideal.

Many things could be improved in this city but fundamentally the problem with goods distribution is a let down. Trying to overcome the odds of a gap bigger than 2 months between market seller ladies, by just building a lot of markets was effective in terms of functionality but not a good idea in terms of keep the number of walkers low.

To improve the palace blocks a good idea would be moving markets closer to the palaces and moving the services (temple, library, theater, etc.) after the markets.

An interesting aspect of this city are prefects and fire risk. There are few intersections in the city. The food and goods blocks for the palaces are isolated with gatehouses. Therefore it was possible to keep number of prefects reasonably low.
