First of all, i want to thank Angrod for this scenario, and to kach, for recommending this map when i asked for map in witch a high population city can be made.
When i started this city, i had 3 goals:
- make a city with 50000 population
- make 100 grand mansions
- give perfect coverage to everything, thus obtaining the 100 perfect ratings.
It's a fun map to built on, trade routs are plentiful, you just need some organization at the beginning. After just 2 years i think, my profit was sky rocketing, and i didn't had any villas made. Then, after i had more than 100000 i started making the villas, and continued making houses for both plebs and equites. With some patience, I brought the city pass my previous high population markings (27300, 37400), and i was more than satisfied if i would have reached 50000. At that time, i had made the 114 villas, all of them had perfect coverage for everything, i was just waiting for them to maximize. Unfortunately, at around 40000 population my pc showed once again his limits, and from normal speed, i had to pass on slow speed, thus making the process a lot harder :(. I got pass my 50000 goal, and i still had lots of pleb houses empty, just waiting for immigrants. Then, unemployment started to hit me hard: i consumed ALL space on the map with industry, MASSIVELY overproducing - still, at around 45000 population, i stopped selling basic goods, my plebs were eating a lot, and homes didn't upgrade as fast as they should have. So, facing the unemployment issue, i started making towers, i built them everywhere the flat land allowed - eventually that ended, and i still had thousands of plebs unemployed. I then started placing prefectures and engineering posts almost everywhere free space was available, mostly in the west island, where my industry was. By the way, you can see a messy industry, because of the trees which i needed for furniture and weapons, and i didn't afford to cut even one tree on that side of the map. After all of the last pleb homes evolved, i paved all the remaining roads with plazas, and made beautifications in the east side of the city which cost me more than 100.000 denari, but at this level of the game, even if the city has a colossal population, it still has 114 grand mansions, which at the taxes i made (2% for sales, and 9% for property) gave an yearly profit of about 150.000 denari.
In the end, i did everything i had in mind on this map - more actually, but extras never hurt :), thus obtaining a perfect 60000 population city.
Be patient when you load this city, it takes a lot of time, especially if you have a slower pc, and also keep the SPEED AT SLOW, otherwise buildings will start to catch fire or collapse.
Comments on this city are more then welcomed :).
Here are some pictures of it (in the first one, you can see how 114 grand mansions look like :D)

Simply magnificent! Congratulations!
Additional Comments:
I´m not sure if you´ll read this post (since yours is actually quite old), but anyway, I would like to know what city you used. I cannot identify the map.
Thanks so much and congratulations again! |

Hazarous, this map is probably based on the map from the Roma scenario. You can find it here: http://caesar4.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=189 |

kach is right, the map is based on the Roma scenario, but the correct link is this: http://caesar4.heavengames.com/downloads/showfile.php?fileid=131
The scenario is called Roma et Nero - read the instructions carrefully. I personally haven't burned the city down, but maybe it's time i reinstall Caesar4, and start playing a couple of maps - it's been a while since i last played... |
