Topic Subject: Unable to post multiplayer games
posted 11-04-06 04:40 PM EDT (US)
I recently installed DS LOA on my PC and was able to host a game under "Internet ". The game ran fine but my wife ho had the game installed on her laptop was unable to join. I exited the game and attempted to host another one and now I am unable to host. Neither is my wife. We are connecting through a Linksys WRT54 router and my PC is protected by Zone Alarm. I have granted both access and server access to DS and now have forwarded all the ports. The firewall and router are and unlikely source of the problem since I was able to initially host a game before changing any settings.

Any ideas?

Sorry for the multiple post.

I don't know why you're using "Internet" to play a LAN game... but here's something that might help:

I'm not. I am unable to host either. A LAN game or an Internet game. Thanks for the links. I have already opened up the ports for DS.

There is no error message, just a return to the 'multiplayer' screen.

Could be UPnP issues... From (the old SN forums):
http://66.225.220.102/forums/index.php?showtopic=10170

Quote:

To prevent Windows XP computers from discovering and collaborating with UPnP devices, open the Run box (Start > Run) and enter services.msc. Find the SSDP Discovery Service and double click it to open its Properties window. Stop the service, and set the Startup Type to Disabled. Click OK to close the Properties window, then close the Services console.

(There's more in the linked thread).
