M2TW Ultimate Writer Competition

Introduction

Welcome to the Medieval 2: Total War Heaven Ultimate Writer Competition. This is your chance to contribute positively to M2TWH and be rewarded for it. The winner of each round will win a prize such as a HG T-shirt or hat or a custom title and the overall winner will receive a mystery prize. I promise you that it won’t be a toothpick.

This is a writing competition with a Medieval 2: Total War flavour. There are five rounds and a different piece of writing will be needed for each one (obviously). Each entry is marked out of twenty and the overall winner is the person with the highest cumulative score. All entires should be sent to yakcamkir marked M2TW Competiton. Only one entry per person per round will be accepted (I know there are people out there who can write five good articles in a month, but if that’s the case then just pick the best).

Round 1 – History of an Event

For this round, you can describe any historical event that takes place in the time period covered by the game, Medieval 2: Total War. This could be a battle or politial incident. We would suggest something between 500 to 100 words but this is not a strict limit. Please read the History Section Submission Guidelines before submitting an article. Unlike standard history articles, entries for this competition should be sent to Yakcamkir. Do not post entries in the History forum, send them in by email as for the articles.

Round 2 – Battle Strategy

In this round, the objective is to send in an article on a Battle Strategy. It is suggested that you send in a Multiplayer or Custom Battle Strategys such as this one, although anything that fits into one of the other categories on the Battle Strategy Page is fine. I would suggest something between 500 and 1000 words, but it is more important to describe your strategy in the right amount of detail, this is just a rough guide. Please remember that it is not the quality of the strategy that will be marked, although it will have a small effect. It is mainly the quality of the article that will be marked. Please read and follow the Strategy Section Submission Guidelines before submitting your article.

Round 3 – War Story

This a fan fiction competition which will be marked by the community. As a guide to the sort of thing we are looking for, look in the War Stories Forum or read this guide. Do not post entries in the War Stories forum, send them in as for the articles, all war stories will be posted anonymously by a staff member in the War Stories forum after the deadline in a voting thread. There will be a voting deadline and everyone can vote for any story (other than the one they entered). The score for each story is the average score that it is given (anyone smurfing to vote for themselves will be disqualified from the competiton and banned).

Round 4 – History of a Figure or Organisation

It could be a King/Sultan/important figure or it could be an organisation that existed in Medieval times. We suggest your articles on your chosen subject should be roughly between 500-1000 words but this is not a strict limit. Please read the History Section Submission Guidelines before submitting an article. Do not post entries in the History forum, send them in as for the articles. The deadline is midnight forum time on Friday August 31st. Please send your entries to yakcamkir.

Round 5 – Campaign Strategy

In this round, the objective is to send in an article on a Campaign Strategy. Any category on the Campaign Strategy Page is fine. Length depends entirely on the level of detail that you want to go into, but it is suggested that you stay below 1500 words.
