just played a rated game vs a germans.
he sent a few solduri to attack me.
i garrisoned civs in the city.

I tell you:
THE SOLDURI BARELY TOOK ANY DAMAGE AT ALL!!!
I had like 4-5 civs garrisoned. the solduri took over 10-15 hits to kill from a city garrison.
only when i made archers could i take them down.
this seems a little odd to me. ive never known solduri to be immune to arrows.
someone fill me in.

Normal heavy inf have 4 armor. Solduri have 5 armor, and more hp's.

Garrisoning your citizens is a very VERY poor defence against a 4 or 5 HI rush, it won;t save you, maybe kill 1 unit.

Get Mil 1
Rax
Archers

In the meantime build a temple in the city to make the city tougher

garrison 2 and only 2 citizens to take you to level 1 city fire
garrison 6 to get to level 2, not worth it as your econ goes down the pan
(chinese need 1 more garrisoned for their large cities)

yep . makes sense. i am poor on defense. do not prepare for rushes. rarely make tower. etc.
yep but with only one solduri, i figured itd take them out with city. guess not,

http://www.infidels.org.uk/ron/strategy/rushians.htmhas many aspects of rushing on it. One thing to note - two garrisoned villagers will make a small town centre fire out, but you need six to fire twice as fast. Anything between two and six will not help you.
