hi, while conquering Gaul I have Lugdunum in my possession for a while.
It seems that this city is a honey pot for spies. Almost every turn an enemy spy is spotted inside the city. But if I look at the message that says 'spotted a spy', it always say the spy managed to get away out of the city.
Is there a way to catch these freaks or even kill them? It is rather frustrating to always see them escape.

put one of your own spy in it, it will increase the chances of it getting killed. also, get a good governor in there.

You can also get an assassin. If the spy is discovered, you will see it on the campaign map wich means that your assassin can target him and kill him.
No, I've never been able to kill a spy with an assassin- it just comes up with a cross curser.

Ive no hard facts to back this up but ive always thought that an assassin will 'protect the troops'.
Just being present will help against enemy spies and assassins. It increases the chance of killing the enemy spy. You dont use it offensively to kill enemy spies.
Putting lots of your own spies in there, along with a governor with good public security traits will give you a huge advantage in catching him. It's the number of eyes that count rather than the number of spies though.

I think spies have to be in a city to be killed. I've assassinated them before, but I only recall getting them when they were inside a settlement.
