Got a cool screenshot you'd like to share? Why not put it here? This is where you can share your favorite moments from Rome TW, frozen in time.

Of course, you could submit your screenie to a mod to put up in the Gallery, but the mods are often busy, this takes more time, and you cannot comment or receive feedback on your screenies. Choose - or do both.

--------------------

Got a screenshot but don't know how to post it? Read on!

  • To post screenshots, you need first to take them. RomeTW has a built-in screenshot capture function, but it's tricky to use, so I recommend downloading a program like Fraps (the free trial version is all you need). Download, install and start it up. Use the "open on start-up" option, choose an image capturing hotkey (play safe: use F14 or something unused by other programs, but easy to access). Check that it is set to capture in .bmp format (bitmaps; you need to pay for the full version if you want them directly in jpeg format), and create a directory somewhere you can find it.

  • Start up your game and take your screenshots.

  • Depending on what you are taking screenshots for, you may want irfanview. If you are only taking a single shot, or maybe a couple, you can skip this step. If you are taking multiple screenshots, it is best to include it; it will save you a lot of time. So: download Irfanview, and install. Create a new directory for the files you are going to alter, then open Irfanview. Click on File, Batch Conversion/Rename. Find the files you want to upload and select them. Find the directory you just created to use as the output destination. Choose to convert the files to .jpg, and then click "convert". It normally does this very fast.

  • Your screenshots are ready for uploading; now you have to decide where to upload them. Photobucket is very popular on these forums, and it is easy to resize images. Imageshack is easier to use I find, and great if you want to upload lots of images at once. I use Imageshack for my AARs but Photobucket for individual screenshots like those below. Your choice. Create an account as one, or both. Both have a bulk upload function; upload your screenies.

  • The last step is how you post your pictures. The easiest way to do this is using thumbnails. The coding will look something like . That shows up as

Both Photobucket and Imageshack will generate thumbnail code for you.

The other way to post pictures is as the pictures themselves, but to do this you have to resize them. With imageshack, if you want to resize an image you have to do it at the same time you upload it. With Photobucket, you click on the image and it gives you a resize option at the top. The best size to use is 480x360. Any larger and it won't show up, any smaller and it's not so cool. The code will look something like (nice and simple, Photobucket will generate it for you but with Imageshack you need to right-click on the image, find its location and use that to make your own code), which shows up like

If you don't resize your screenshot, or you resize it but it is still too big, it will look like this: [JPEG, (186.75 KB)]

You might as well just use a thumbnail; remember, with a thumbnail you don't have to resize, but it doesn't look as cool.

Special thanks to SubRosa for this.

    --------------------

  • So that's it; post your screenshots, comment on other people's and enjoy!
