Hi Guys.
^Ar_kai
Yes. Come to think of it there was a message right at the start about another people in flight...the Vandals. To my west perhaps? Wish I had more spies to scout ahead of my armies like in RTW.

Grey Huns at night made it drab. Splash of colour follows..Yellow troops at day. (The leader of the southern Hun horde is not good enough to fight at night).
I am not a reader of stories or long pictureless threads. Ive had a read of your story as requested. The words are in an old world stlye as intended? Interesting yet a touch hard to follow. I remembered the 'readability' tool in 'word' and ran your three chapters through it..and for comparison a post by another story writer.
Words per sentance:
30 (chapter1), 24 (chapter 2) 29 (chapter 3)
Comparison 17
Sentance per paragraph:
11, 18, 10 and comparison 2.4
Flesch reading ease:
51.9, 59.8, 50.9 and comparison 66.8
Flesh grade (school grade comparison?)
12, 10.8, 12 and comparison 7.9
So this means think about structure. Shorter sentances and more paragraphs. Break it up to make it more readable?

Spot on with the Horde creation. One is going to happen below in this installment.

Okay. So what was I up to today.
One battle which had me doubting my battle skills when using horse archers.

The seers had been consulted (graphs) and they foretold that this was the last remaining settlement of the Sarmatians (yellow faction). The world is about to become a bit drabber! Or not? This is a faction that hordes up when it loses its last settlement. Wonder how hordes form and where. Will I be pitched into a massive fight with a new horde.
Well here goes. None of the Hun infantry can keep up with the cavalry. They have been left behind as cavalry speed forward.
Hey...those Sarmatians have hired the remaining Mercenaries that I didnt hire last turn. Did I miss an opportunity? I felt that cash flow would be a problem as Huns have no income except from looting. So I passed on some hires last turn. Too early to know if I should hire everyone on sight. Ive got too many troops at the moment. So I dont know whats best at this point. Reading forums seems to offer conflicting strategies.Thunder...ten thousand hooves
Sarmatian King chasing Hun Chosen cavalry.
Now look at the mini map...The grey of the Huns will soon engulf the yellow of the Sarmatian King.He goes down alone in a sea of Hun.
Cavalry archers operate in an open formation that makes them slow in town streets. They get caught too easily. It was with some relief that they made it back to the open ground without the faction heir General catching them.
Meanwhile four Hun units go in via a side road and take the plaza from weak remains of previously routed units. If thats celebrating I hate to think what they look like when they are serious.
By the way...grass effects are turned up full. Seems to have planted grass onto some of the plaza...half of it to be exact. You can run but not hide. This guy was stuck behind a hut.
After several attempts a Hun got him and ended the battle.
Too many casualties. Huns are down 201 men. 147 to enemy means 54 to friendly fire. But if you add in the 35 heals that means I inflicted a staggering 89 friendly fire hits on my own troops. What gives? I suspect its the long time lag between ordering horse archers to stop firing and them actually stopping.
--The sack brings in a lot more money than last time. Perhaps I can splash out more on Mercenaries. Oh yes...and a message fell down the side saying 'A People in Flight'...a new horde?
But where? When the battle ended and the city fell to the Huns I thought I saw a flash of a yellow unit on the road heading south. I cant see far in that direction. Im heading south so we will find out soon enough.

Image quality? How is it for you? Ive turned up the graphics. The campaign is now playing on 1280/1024 pixels whilst battle remains on 1024/748. Are the campaign images too big or lacking sharpness?
