Forummers of Total War Heaven

Many articles have been submitted to both M2TWH & RTWH over the years and much effort has been expended by non-staff but us staff are greedy and we want more so we're going to run a wee scheme that will both thank those who have contributed as well as encourage further contribution.

Custom titles
Yes. You heard that right. We will hand out custom titles to people who submit articles.

Here is how it's going to work.
If you submit four articles, you will gain a "tier 1" title.
If you submit seven articles, you will gain a "tier 2" title.
If you submit ten articles, you get to chose your own title.

The titles on offer are:
RTW
Tier 1: Centurion
Tier 2: Legate

M2TW
Tier 1: Ministerialis
Tier 2: Banneret
This scheme applies for all future articles submitted and is also backdated to include articles submitted in the past that are hosted on our two front pages.

The articles eligible are:
-Strategy or gameplay articles for both M2TW & RTW.
-Modification tutorials for both M2TW & RTW.
-History articles for both M2TW & RTW.
We will also count hosting & presenting the forum awards. For practical reasons, we will not be backdating this beyond the most recent awards (which do count).

We will not be keeping count of articles submitted and it is up to the forumers themselves to keep count of their own articles and contact mods to request their title.

If all your content submitted is M2TW-specific, then you will get the relevant M2TW title. If you have submitted for both games, you get to chose whether you have the M2TW or RTW title.

A couple of pointers...
We're giving out rewards here so we expect any submitted content to be up to scratch. Any articles requiring major correction or amendment beyond html coding or otherwise deficient will not be considered. TWH mods have the final say on this matter and any complaints or issues will be dealt with over email.

Staff are welcome to avail of this scheme for their own submitted content if they wish and there is no issue if anybody wishes to collect their custom title at a later date. This scheme isn't going to run anywhere and there is no time limit as to when you can cash your cheque.

For practical reasons, anybody who qualifies for selecting their own custom title gets one go at picking it so make sure you're happy with it as there are no second chances, unless you feel like submitting another 10 articles!

Feel free to discuss this and if you have suggestions on how the scheme can be improved, let us know.

Just a suggestion:

Couldn't you offer the Latin versions of centurion and legate for the RTW titles? That would be centvrio and legatvs. I have other ideas, but I don't really want to get into pointless Roman military technicalities.

EDIT: Three articles down now. That's one more to go until centurion status!

OK, scrap that.

How about replacing "legate" with "aquilifer"? Way cooler. I wouldn't want to be a legate, but I would want to be an eagle-bearer.

A legate commanded a legion.
An Aquilifer carried the Eagle, and was high up in the ranks of the under-officers awaiting promotion to centurion.

Replacing Centurion with Aquilifer is a step down- no no.
Replacing Legate with Aquilifer is a massive demotion- again, no no.

You really want Aquilifer? Write ten articles and ask for it (Self-chosen Custom Title).

I'm not talking about history; I'm talking about the whole sound of the thing.

Aquilifer just sounds way cooler than legate.

I'll have to write three at once when I've done seven to jump the step. And then... aquilifer... we shall see.

    A bit premature, Noble Dugit.

While you have indeed written four excellent threads here, only one has been posted. The others, of the same excellent quality, are in the queue to become articles and surely will be so, but are not quite there yet. A few more days.

    Patience, Lord Dugit. Patience!

Also, FYI- normally the writer will inform the mods that the article is ready by posting a reply saying something to the effect that the article is now ready for posting.

Then we invoke the Two-Day Rule, giving others two days to make any comments/corrections/quality control. If nothing worthy of delay is mentioned, then the article gets posted. Due to external factors (limited internet during Påske or Easter) this part was fast-forwarded and ignored. Now I have regualr access to the Net again, so back to standard.

Choose a subject. [Take a pen and a piece of paper. Write about your subject.] Type your article. Copy and paste it into a new topic here.

A mod will be along (ie Terikel, Pitt and/or myself) to look it over, as will some members no doubt. We will correct/criticise. When you're happy with it, say so - but remember that a mod gets final say over whether it qualifies or not.

    So -
    Final Faction Overview Completed!
    by Terikel Grayhair | 2/17/2011 2:07 AM

Last year we began writing Faction Overviews, to flesh out the histories and gameplay information for each faction. Today I am proud to announce that the final overview has been written.

The People of Pontus was the brainchild of Awesomated88, his first article. He was unable to complete this project without the aid of another, so Drakontos stepped in to lend a helping hand. Together they completed the final overview to complete our collection.

Comments and praise, etc, may be left here, as usual.

The Staff of RWTH thanks both of these stalwart scribblers for bringing the Faction Overviews to a close.

    Now, on to Barbarian Invasion...
To all you prospective overview writers out there: post here on which faction's you'd like to work on to avoid duplication of efforts - which would be quite a waste of time. "Reserve" one you really want to write, and no more than one at a time please!
