Topic Subject: Noob Question... :'( [change the capitol/captital city]
posted 30 December 2005 17:49 EDT (US)
uhm... i read somewhere on this site (or some other site) u can change the capital city, i want to since my capital city absolutely sucks (-6500 economy) and give it as a gift to one of my enemies and then take a unit and automatically win back city and enslave, it brings up economy and i continue to repeat process until economy is above 100.

You do it by left-klicking on new city, open the settlement scroll and then there is a button called 'set capital' or something like that, that will work. DON'T do it for that reason however, reason here.

And someone, please sticky that tread!

Very possible, I just havn't seen it. Where can I find it?

EDIT:Ok, found it. It seems good, and the important thing is that a tread about it gets stickied, not that my tread gets stickied, so just take the one you all think is best.

According to research done by therother, here are some rules of thumb concerning capitol cities:

There is no penalty within 15 squares of your capital.
The penalty is always 80% over 86 squares away.
The penalty increases by ~1% per square.
So between 15-85 squares, take the number of squares, subtract 10, and round to the nearest 5. So 24 squares would be 24-10=14, so the penalty is 15%. There seems to a small aberration near the transitions though.

Note: About stickies, threads which affect many forumers in a general and timely fashion may be stickied. The 'losing money' topic is already FAQ#5 in the Newbie Guide, and is also indexed and linked in the Index, and unless most forumers develop amnesia, such a narrow topic probably won't be stickied. Since a general search of all text in the body of posts is not available, a search of topics in the Index can help newbies and experts alike locate information. New keyords, post, and threads can be suggested in the Index thread. Newer people can be encouraged to do a simple text search of the Index to find common (or even some obscure) answers.

How do YOU like the sarcastic posts, Teh? Not very nice, are they. Think about that next time you register here...

EDIT: Unoffical warning: don't do this trolling Antiochus IV Epi (you made similar posts in several threads), even though Teh_Executioner is banned. -- Wartrain
