Every week I intend to make a thread in the Baths as a tribute to a certain forummer.

This week, I think I will start with Misplaced General.

Why I like you:

You share my conservative ideas about things such as crime and punishment.

We have similar ideas as regards relationships.

We both have a common interest in Ancient History. It was a great relief to find that I was not alone in the world amongst my age group in that I am interested in history to a great extent.

You seem remarkably immune to the pro American views that most Americans that I know follow blindly. You do not seem to have the idea that America is the best country and all the others can burn in hell. When my cousins tell me that it really annoys me. It is great that rational Americans exist.

It's great to have you as a forummer here.

Surrender!
You mean you wish to surrender to me? Very well, I accept!

I raise my glass to you misplaced; and to you too, Yuri.
Now lets just hope that this thread doesn't turn into some sort of flame war.

Lets hope not...there are too few threads praising our fellow forummers, and too many that end up flaming them...although I think we're all a little guilty in that regards.

To say the least. Though I don't know about you, I don't remember you doing much flaming ... though I certainly have.

I'm here. Am a little curious where this type of thread will end up.
I think this line isn't 100% accurate

But I've said it before and I'll say it again, I've always enjoyed mpg's knowledge of ancient history and his posts in that forum. He might be a bit down at the moment but I think he's way too hard on himself.

Please, let's not speak of flaming .

You're a fine fellow, misplaced! A pleasure to read [the posts of] and an excellent contributer to the forums. Wouldn't be same without you.

Why I like misplacedemo - well, first of all, even if he is a little off at times, he is a Catholic, and that always counts for something. Secondly, he has good logic; his posts may seem a bit ... ah, forceful, shall we say (not that I should be talking or anything), and his grammar might be sometimes not quite up to par (again, not that I should talk), but I think most ridiculing of him that takes place on this forum, and of all those people who take part in the debates, he gets ridiculed the most, is copmletely unbased and uncalled for. He's a very smart person, and will know what he is talking about. He knows more about Ancient history than I do, and is very admirable when it comes to telling people exactly what he thinks.

Cheers to misplacedgeneral!

Really I consider misplaced to be a good foumer bud and he was one of the first people here who started chatting with me.
True his posts can be "colorful" at times but that's what makes him unique and lovable to me.

Love ya misplaced!

I like Misplaced. He may be a misguided right wing bigot of the highest order but he knows a lot about history (especially for someone his age) and has a commendable zeal for reading the ancient historians (and that excuses a lot imnsho).

And I think that in a few years he'll be transformed into a decent open minded liberal...

The forums would be poorer were he not part of them.

As long as it doesn't turn into spam, or flaming, then I would say that this is a very good idea and I support it.

misplaced, I like you because you think for yourself and say what you think. In some ways, I don't like you for the same reason, but that is mainly to do with you creating extra work for me by getting carried away and going too far. You have also been very polite when I have had to do something about you going too far, something I am very grateful for.

]I don't remember you doing much flaming

When I started here about a year ago I was prone to the occasional flame...one of the first (and last, I might add) persons I flamed was actually misplaced, and I hang my head in shame when I look back upon my innapropriate behavior.

Nonetheless, we should embrace our fellow forumers and celebrate our various points of view (hey, even our neo-con forumers should be able to support a candy-ass liberal statement like that!). After all, varying points of view are how we learn about the world around us, no?

Ok, I'll stop sounding like a Halmark greeting card now. Misplaced, you're a great forumer, and I salute you. We've had our differences in the past, but we always end up resolving things peacefully and positively...just do me a favour, and don't try and grow up too fast.

So both of you learned from that experience. Everybody's happy right?

I think everybody knows that myself and Misplaced have crossed swords in the debates at times but what I like about Misplaced is that it isn't personal and friendly banter will continue in other threads.

Why'd you do the test thread on me, Yuri, you think I'm some sort of vermin?

Personally, I am very thankful to you all, I like each of you for different reasons, and I like most of you more than most people I know.

I reckon misplaced sucks in all honesty...

nah not really. But I reckon he's a good contributer to the community, and I dont reckon the place would be as active without him here, everytime I log on I get to enjoy a wide variety of his posts. He manages to have fun without being immature and spammy most of the time, and that's a rare trait.

Misplaced is a necessary evil. There must always be darkness to be battled by the forces of justice and light. An antithesis to offset the greatness that is me. It brings balance and prevents all your heads from exploding due to an overload of Doitzel awesomeness.

Ye could simply be two sides of the same coin, neither evil nor good, just polar opposites like the guys out of nightwatch.
