Desert Canyons
King Kharod Ironfist was aptly named. His left hand had been lost in a battle, and he had had it replaced with an iron hand, with sharp claws for fingers. After his accident he became cruel, enjoying sentencing people to death for the most minor crimes. Soon he was universally hated throughout the kingdom.
Some decided that this could not go on. Some of King Kharod's noblemen, including the extremely powerful Count of Ankar, Lord Carev, formed an alliance and attempted to overthrow King Kharod. The battle was unsuccessful, and most of the lords were slain in the fighting. But two escaped; Lord Carev, and you.
The two of you retreated into a maze of parched canyons at the edge of the kingdoms with the remnants of your armies. There you decided to build a stronghold and slowly but steadily recruit troops until you once again had an army powerful enough to stand up to King Kharod. But Lord Carev had a different idea.
A messenger bearing the Lord Carev's coat of arms walked into your keep cautiously.
"M-m-my lord?" He said fearfully. "I b-b-bear a message from Lord Carev.H-h-he says that... that..."
"That what?!"
"That the alliance is over... h-h-he says that we are not strong enough to stand up to the king... that we must try and please him with gifts... and that if you refuse to help him, you must be... killed..."
"What?! Lord Carev says that?! It is impossible to please Kharod! He must be mad!"
"P-p-please... let me l-live..."
"Get out of here. Now."
"Y-y-yes m'lord! Thank you! Thank you!"
"Just get out of my sight. Leave. Go."
The messenger scurried away quickly, leaving you alone. You turn and stare out the window. It was looking hopeless enough with the help of Lord Carev... Now it seemed impossible to win the battle against the combined might of the king and all those loyal to him.

Hey everyone, this is my latest map, Desert Canyons. I started it quite a while ago, probably sometime in the summer last year, and just got around to finishing it up.
It can be kinda difficult, as there is little oasis and and space for building. As far as I know, all the AI work well with it, although some of the bigger castle-building ones might have a bit of trouble, such as the Wolf and the Sheriff.
Have fun playing,
vSchmidt

Hey, this is a very good skirmish map. Tricky and difficult, unbalanced for probably every player. One has 3 farms in his back yard but no stones, another one has easy access to stones but greenery is far away. Most castles are threatened by hidden passages through the rocks. Most armies struggle for the huge deposits of expensive raw materials in the centre of the map. Great you hve to play with the landscape. Which - needless to say - looks very good and natural as well. Especially the centre is a spectacular mountain area and fighting place. Thank you. |

Its easy to change colours. Just use these template maps by Jalis.

Disabling buildings is also easy. While constructing your map, press Alt+, (comma) and change your map to an invasion. Go into the 'Edit Scenario' and you disable buildings.
btw, would you mind rating my map? :) |
