Story
As the sun rose upon the morn, the first Guard switched with the next. Just the same as any other day, and yet so different it seemed for all of the soldiers on duty, who stood tense and at-the-ready. Why? They did not know.
Perhaps it was the chill in the morning breeze that seemed to stiffen their backs and sharpen their wits. But, whatever it was it would not let the troops gain even a moment of respite against the feeling of the on-coming storm.
An arrow broke the stalemate, and ushered in the tide. War was no longer coming. War was here.
For years the Signal-Fort had stood as a lightly defended Hold against any enemy attacks. It was not destined to defeat the foes but only to warn the Capital if the enemy proved too great and themselves to weak.
The soldiers knew this. They knew that they was the first line of defence. They knew they had a slim chance of survival. But, still they would fight with the ferocity of lions on the battlefield against Tyranny and oppression.
Pikes were unsheathed, and bows were drawn.
Hints
While some areas may seem lightly defended, they may not have access to the keep, and so attacking them would be unwise.
Macemen are fast and damaging in numbers, these should be the brunt of your forces.
