Wooden Steps Tutorial

This simple screenshot shows basic wooden walkways. The method to produce them is here.

This screenshot shows how wooden steps have been simply created. I raised up the land to mid-plain, then I lowered it ten clicks before making the wooden walkway. Of course at this stage the walkway is much higher than the other walkways in a row, so you use the lowering wall trick to halve the height of the wooden walkway. It is then lower than the other walkways and so forms a stair.

The second stair is made because instead of lowering the mid-plain ten clicks I lowered it thirty clicks before creating the wooden walkway on it.

This next screenshot shows how you can mix wooden steps into your map. To get the steps to go all the way to the ground you have to start the wooden walkway on a higher height than mid-plain and then lower it to the right height. After the third step you can’t use the technique where you click down from a mid-plain. Wooden steps and walkways are very flexible, and you can create incredible pieces of eye candy, for example the screenshot below from UnikUnok’s map Cumberland Downs.
