Now available here: GeniEd2, the all-new sequel to GeniEd.

GeniEd2 provides a quick and straightforward way to edit the unit stats from SWGB's genie.dat and SWGB:CC's genie_x1.dat. While much more limited than the original GeniEd, it's a lot faster and more reliable, and allows you to edit all of the most common unit attributes.


Dependent on time, boredom, and bribery, it's possible that more features could be added into future versions: more stats (there are currently hundreds of unknown values), whole new sections of genie.dat (graphics editing could be useful), or anything else that people desire and suggest.


The current version has had rather limited testing, but appears to work fine on Windows 98, 2000 and XP, and can handle genie(_x1).dat from any version of SWGB or SWGB:CC, as well as AOK:TC's empires2_x1(_p1).dat. Please report any problems, and I'll try to fix them as soon as possible.

And special thanks to Mace for downloading and testing far more versions than his modem is designed for

You have done a very good job here. now edit stats in SWGBG is even more ease then in StarCraft or Diablo LoD (and all those txt files...)!!! I hope you receive reconnaissance in your work for what you do.

The only problem I can see is that you can't do any editing to the graphics bits, like change the number of frames in a SLP.

(There's a somewhat fatal bug if you open a .dat file with no .dll files selected, which will be fixed whenever I get around to uploading a new version. For now, just don't do that.)

I'll probably rest now for a few days (finishing a three thousand line program in five days isn't trivial ), but then I suppose I can try adding graphics editing - the only difficult bit is making the interface work. And I'll see if it's possible to add every single unknown value, in the hope that someone will make their purposes known

What you need to do Ykkrosh (no its not a request) Is improve your Mod Editor, if you can make it show where the exact anchoring is then everyone will bow to your greatness.

I think it's alowed if we request programs, the rule is, "No mod requests". Yeah Mod Editor could be better, showing the anchor around the circle where units are centered would be one way, also moving the anchor points with a mouse instead of selecting the numbers would also make it better.

Good luck with the graphics editing...How in the world did you learn to do all this anyways?
