This is for those of you who are having trouble getting the Mod Programs to work on Windows Vista. After getting advise from the community about this subject I have been able to find a method of correcting this problem.
First, Uninstall SWGB from your computer. (It would be wise if you had the proper disks to reinstall SWGBH on hand for later)
You should now restart your computer. Do this open the start menu and click on the icon with a horizontal arrow on it (this should be to the right of the general power/lock buttons). There should then be a restart option; click it.
During the restart you will have to enter into Safe Mode. To do this press the F8 button before the windows logo appears during the boot up. This should bring you to the "Select start method" page, once you have reached this page select "Safe Mode". Login to you your account in safe mode and insert your SWGB disc. Note that Safe Mode does not have Autorun activated so you will have to start the CD mannually by clicking on you disc drive through your "Computer" directory.
Install the game as you normally would under any other circumstances. When the install has completed you are asked if you wish to restart your computer; click "Restart now" and allow your computer to restart into standard Windows Vista.
Test the game to ensure it is running correctly. If the game is running properly you may close the game and install the proper modding utilities (Which can be found here.) if you haven't already.
Now install the .ocx files needed to use the modding utilities. Which can be foundhere. The download gives efficient instructions on how to install them.
Locate the .exe for one of your modding utilities; right-click it and select "Properties. Proceed to select the compatibility tab(If there is no such tab you have likely located the shortcut to the .exe and not the .exe itself.) click the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select Windows XP SP2. After that is completed select "Run as Administrator" and then hit apply and repeat this process for every modding utilities' .exe.
Now install the .ocx files needed to use the modding utilities. Which can be found
Locate the .exe for one of your modding utilities; right-click it and select "Properties. Proceed to select the compatibility tab
Or request the advise of the rest of the community.
