WATTO MOD

This modpack includes graphics of Watto, sounds, an icon, and a language.dll which changes Utric Sandov's name to Watto. Unzip Watto Mod.zip to your SWGB "Game" folder, which is mostly likely at C:Program FilesLucas ArtsStar Wars Galactic BattlegroundsGame. To install the Watto Mod, you will need to download the "SWGB Mod Installer" program at the Utility section of SWGB Heaven's Downloads section:

SWGB Mod Installer

You can also find updated versions of the program there as well. Below are instructions on how to Install the Watto Mod:

How to Install:
Click on the button called "Open Mod", then select "Watto.mpi". Once it opens, click on the button called "Install".

How to Uninstall:
After you have installed the modpack, click on the button called "Remove latest" to remove the modpack. But if "Watto mod" is not at the top of the list, you must remove all newer mods first.

Credits:
The Vampire Slayer - Majority graphics, sounds, language.dll and SLP files.
Izzy - Partial graphics and anchors.
Ykkrosh - Built the modpack programs used to create the modpack and built the translucent shadows and shield masks. Also built the Watto.mpi using the SLP and sound files.

NOTE: If you have Clone Campaigns and had this modpack installed already, reinstall this mod to allow the icon to work.

Watto Mod by The Vampire Slayer

The Watto Mod was the first mod published for Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. It was made for The Vampire Slayer's "The Phantom Menace" campaign. It replaces Utric Sandov (rebel hero) with Watto, the Toydarian Junkdealer from Episode I.

Although this mod only replaces one unit, it was no small feat; it replaces 205 frames! Also keep in mind that at the time that this mod was made, there were hardly any modding tools for SWGB. In fact, this mod paved the way for our current knowledge of SWGB modding, and many modding tools. Now, for the mod itself:

Graphics:
The graphics for Watto are excellent, especially the standing and walking animations. The attack animation is not very articulate. The death animation is a little off, it looks like a blood pinata. Difficulty with Watto is that he floats, so you can't make a nice long falling down animation. The decay animation is okay. Watto does not have player color patches, but this is not really an issue, because he is not a typical multiplayer unit.

Other changes:
The sounds were very good, and representative for Watto. The icon was also good. All mentions of 'Utric Sandov' were succesfully changed to 'Watto'. Anchors, translucent shadows, shield masks, and selected outlines were all done correctly.

Impact: RM & DM
This mod has no impact in the popular Random Map and Death Match modes of gameplay, since it only replaces a hero.

Impact: Custom Scenarios
Watto is made for custom scenarios, and is a success, since it replaces the little know Utric Sandov, with a much more important character.

Conclusion:
The Watto mod was very succesfull in achieving it's goals. It has no multi player penalty, and the sacrifice (Utric Sandov hero) is very small. The Watto is well done, and makes and excellent addition to this game. I therefore give it a score of 4.5

Very good, I certainly couldn't match your prowess in modding. The character itself is good, the idea is good, the movement is good, and the dying is cool.

Additional Comments:
Keep up the good work.
