Bonfire Studios, one of the Ensemble Studios spin-offs, has updated their website: http://www.bonfire-studios.com/

The company is currently focused on developing a new IP "that redefines genres and appeals to mass audiences". Probably an RTS and RPG mix�

So what can we expect from the website artwork and the first screenhot?

This shows an top-down perspective typical for RPGs and RTS' with several structures, environment and units.

Here we clearly see Minotaurs, a Cyclops with a club in the centre. A Greek Archer to the left and a Medusa to the right. In the background one can see a Hydra.

Centaur, a Dwarf, a Medusa.

I cannot make out something clearly, as they look less obvious. More demonic.

This is a detailed picture of the Cyclops in the top screen.

A gian Rat (also seen in the small pictures above).

So what's your opinion on this stuff?

Not totally sure...perhaps something akin to AoM?

If it isn't an RTS I'll be thoroughly disappointed. Although, a detailed RPG wouldn't be bad either. A mix seems hit-or-miss, I doubt it would peak my interest over DoF.

It won't be.

Which means, not pure RTS.

And "New IP"
Not AoM.

might be a bit related to AoM, but it won't be AoM.

also, it's not the full team.
A lot of the guys who worked on AoM are are Robot now.

The last two images imply RPG to me.

Well, it could just be concept art.. Though the image filenames hints RPG characters. ES did similar work for AoM.

Just have to say: not "a Medusa" but "a Gorgon" of which Medusa was a specific one.

The last pictures don't really imply RPG, could just as easily be campaign characters from an RTS.

My first guess would be an RTS with a very RGP like campaign (along the lines of the Orc campaign in The Frozen Throne), type idea.

I'm hoping it is in the vein of Age of Mythology and an RTS based around Classical mythology, just because it cannot be AoM2 in name doesn't mean it cannot be in nature. Having played and enjoyed Titan Quest, funnily Iron Lore was set up by former Ensemble workers, I could also settle for a deep interesting RPG based around Greek mythos.

It is not like RPG gameplay mechanics have not already started to infiltrate their way in to RTS games (e.g: Dawn of War 2 campaign), so an "innovative" RTS game taking elements from other genres is not out of the question.

I agree to this. If it were a RTS, it would fare way better.

If it were a rpg, then it would be looked upon as, "another one of those fantasy RPGs".
It's time they made a new AoM style RTS.

I'd love it if the gameplay system was like Battleforge... just without micro-transaction.

Battleforge was a great game gameplaywise and not too far from average RTS. The system would work perfectly with mythology.
