Foreword:
So, you've played mafia before, most probably. If not, hopefully you know the rules. And, generally, the setup goes, there is a mafia. A ruthless, terrible killing group of men who kick kittens, existing only to wreak terrible vengeance on the town for some reason or other. Well, this game is their story. In this game, the town... is the mafia. And the mafia? They're the cops. This may get confusing, so allow me to go into flavour:
The Filipeppi family have been running huge swathes of Sicily for years, running protection rackets and forcing rivals out of business. They are one of the largest and most feared crime families in Europe... and Guardia di Finanza (wing of the italian police force dealing with, among other things, anti mafia operations) have had enough. One almost entirely mafia run village has, over the last few years, steadily been infiltrated with deep cover police operatives. On the morning of the 9th of June 2010, Giovanni "The Sauce" Pagliacci was discovered missing from his house. A later letter from the authorities revealed that he had been arrested in the night. The inhabitants of this small village were left with only one conclusion: some of their number were deep cover agents. It was time to root out the traitors in the ranks.
To anyone who knows anything about the mafia/who lives in Italy, I apologise for the complete and utter lack of research here. I am running entirely off terrible clichéd stereotypes and stereotypes of stereotypes and whatever else I feel like throwing in.
So, as I said, the town is the mafia, rooting out the mafia. Who are the cops. What could be simpler?
Why play?
- Cake. Not yet confirmed, but a distinct possibility.
- Genres. Every night action written - and, as with the previous storyteller's mafias, night actions must be written as a narrative - must stick to a certain genre ascribed to the player in their role email. This will, I promise you, be a lot of fun.
- Utter confusion. "Hey, he's a cop, let's kill him!" "You want to kill a cop? You must be mafia!" "Of course I'm mafia we're all mafia!" etc,
There aretwelve roles. Please sign up with your name and email.
