The Tale of the Kitchen God is one of the most popular Chinese legends. Although there are several different versions of the origin of the Kitchen God, the storyline of this campaign is based on the most popular one - with some additional plot elements added to immerse players more fully into the tale. The background for this telling of the tale is the historically-accurate reign of the great Han emperor Wu Di (late 2nd Century BCE). Prepare yourself to become entwined in a story of betrayal, punishment, tragedy, forgiveness, and divine intervention!
This campaign features a new custom map of arid climate and 'enormous' size. A player will interact with 6 historically-accurate cities. Resources, commodities, and available structures follow the Emperor model for the iron age.
An extra file is included in this download. It is a text file named 'TOTKG_Readme.txt', and contains installation instructions, background information, campaign design notes, general play tips, and mission hints (warning: contains spoilers). Additionally, other hints are available by viewing the album of playtest screenshots in the Emperor Heaven gallery.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This campaign is rated 'very hard', and will provide a solid challenge for advanced players. For the best play experience, a player should possess an advanced understanding of the game's military aspect, time-constrained missions, money management, trading, labor allocation, production output, monument construction, summoning and using the Heroes, using spies, and empire-map diplomacy.

Mission 1 - "Of Betrayal and Building", 5 years, from 126 BCE to the end of 122 BCE.
Mission 2 - "A Memorial for Zao Jun", 12 years, from 121 BCE to the end of 110 BCE
Mission 3 - "A God's Wrath, A God's Birth", 6 years from 109 BCE to the end of 104 BCE. |
