Introduction

Here is a little synopsis guide for Deathmatch. This is a guide mainly directed at players of Supremacy, many of whom are unfamiliar to Deathmatch and its intricacies.

The rules of Age of Mythology Deathmatch:

Each game of Deathmatch begins in the Archaic age with 20000 food, wood, gold and 100 favor. Civ specifics are as follows:

  • Norse: Five ulfsarks.
  • Greek: Ten or so villagers, a Scout.
  • Egypt: Twelve or so villagers, a Priest and Pharaoh.
  • Atlantean: Six Citizen and three oracles.

Age advances happen instantly after you click the advance button. As soon as you advance an age through a minor god you get all of that god’s mythological technologies as well as all of the regular technologies and upgrades available in that age, instantly, for free.

God powers are granted some time after each age advance for fairness; there’s a timer on the right side of the screen that tells you when you’ll get yours. You usually get your first god power at around 1 minute and your last one at around 4-5. In Age of Mythology: The Titans, you also receive the ability to place a Titan gate (since “Secrets of the Titans” is free) with the Mythic Age GP.

The entire map starts Explored, meaning that you don’t have to scout to find water, cliffs, forests, etc though it’s a good idea to scout to find where your enemy is expanding and what types of units he or she is using.

A favor trickle is given for all civs, providing free favor slowly so that you can mass myth units as easily as human units. Gathering your own favor through normal means for your civ still works though, and it can help quite a bit (Norse have this easy here, but with patch 1.02 TT, their favor trickle has gone down from .5 to .05, a phenomenal difference)

The victory condition is conquest, meaning you have to completely kill all enemy units and buildings to win. Omniscience can not be researched.
