yup...that's just the HC level limit in the demo You will still be able to gain XP, but your HC won't level up any further than level 9.

yep its true, max level is 9.

However, you can edit your homecity file to unlock all the cards in the demo by telling the game u already bought them. I am working on this was we speak (for the brits anyway)

I ran into the same problem with levels, and it sucks i want to be able to play with the other cards, so i investigated, i came up with the following and it works fine.

DS, i dont mind the lvl limit, but i dont like how i can only unlock 9 cards. I would like to keep lvling to get more carrds and unlock the lower lvl stuff at least. Because now i have to really decide what i want and what i dont. I only want more cards to unock the lvl 1-9 shipments.

I would like to be able to try the cards we do have without having to make a lot of different HC.

Iam gona have to call the es guys bluff, because i am currently level 100, and i have purchased and used 90% of the cards, here is a patch i wrote for it, just run the patch and point it to the age3.exe it will auto patch it, and create a backup (age3.exe.BAK)

Yes the Patch is a .exe its not packed, and feel free to scan it for virus's etc, as i only have a few posts it could be suspicious, but as some people test it, please leave feedback so other users dont worry.

Seems the cards do infact not work, they are usable, however the effects dont seem to happen, my appologies, however its still nice to be able to increase past level 9, and maybe the profiles can be carried over into the retail version.

The buttons in the demo may do nothing, but you can still access the cards in some ways (I think, I haven't tested it yet) Since there's a strings table listing alot of things and the ability to change a HC file easily.

Mattaoe3fan: Point it to the location of your game file age3.exe, should be in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III Trial\" by Default (Location you installed the game into)

If that dont work, copy the Patch.exe into "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III Trial" by Default (Location you installed the game into) and run it from there.

Hi I am new to the forums ^^

I can also confirm it works, so far only used a few new cards, like the 4 settlers one (level 10) works fine. However the card for the hot air balloon doesn't add the ability to your hero, since this is probably not in the demo.

It seems anything like food, gold, wood, settlers (anything that is already in there) can be used. Haven't tried the rest of the cards yet tho, so some others "may" work.

Good little patch tho, opens up more cards for use

the card that adds "powerful advancements" to the church has two of three things that work,

im half asleep so i cant realy remember clearly but for the english their's a research thing that boosts your infantry's hp but lowers their movement speed, that works, there are two spawning options at the church besides the preist after you use this card, they appear at the bottom row... the one that spawns the "skirmishers" works but the other one dosnt...

more later when i unlock it i suppose

Umm this level unlocker needs to be in some kind of stickied thread.

There is a thread here that show you how to unlock almost all of the cards, even the advanced cards that require level 25 and higher homecities....

yes even the shipments that supposedly don't work in the game, can be fixed and made to work.

I just hope someone soon makes a downloadable patch to do it, because manually doing it is a lot of work...
