Topic Subject: Removing The Dead Bodies Of Units
posted 05-15-03 07:41 PM CT (US)
Hi guys I was in the editor when I found something interesting.

Possibly someone out there may know, but I have stumbled upon a way to remove the dead bodies of a unit after its been killed. "No matter what state of decay."

It gave me some ideas which I found interesting. I am going to leave this one open ended for now.

Possibly someone shoveling corpses on a cart or people falling off a horse then having the body removed and replaced by a fresh one without the messy thing on the ground. Meaning you have the laying on the ground animation in the scene.

Possibly many already know this?

I sure didn't. How do you get the bodies to stay there WITHOUT decaying?

I already have used this trick in Plauge. You start out lying in the sand, then stand up. Bon told me about this last year sometime.

You want fries with that?

Now this trick I need to know, for at least two scenes in Immortal Prey... Please do tell, someone.

I figured this out by accident while I was testing a blood and started deleting people, leaving dead bodies by the spawn. The bodies, however, kept disappearing.

When you create an object over a dead body it vanishes put the remove object in the same trigger to remove the newly created unit.

The dead body will no longer be there :-).

Thats a good one Philip , and simple to do.
I wish i had the gift of the editor.
Is there a bottom to that bag of yours ?? Hope not.

Yes, Philip...I planned to make a scene similar to this. I was thinking about this for one of your cuts too, maybe you can guess. Anyway, this is great cause I was going to have path so the body would sink below it to create the scene.

Did you try just the remove object inside the same trigger that kills the unit?

I need to know how to do this, I kill a unit and create a skeleton so the corpse won't decay so when the necromancer comes he revives him, I created new units and removed them but it didn't work, it seems that the unit must be in the dead center of the square to work

Haven't been here in years

I found thius out shortly before TC was released, in a (for the rest) crappy scenario where two archers were fighting it out. They were created within range of each other, and when one of them died, he would be recreated in the same spot, making it look like he got to his feet.
It's a useful trick, though I haven't used it anymore after that.

I needed it to be on the ground for an amount of time to be effective in the capacity I used it for.

I was going to guess that!

"Especially awe-inspiring is the fact that any single brain is made up of atoms that were forged in the hearts of countless stars billions of years ago... These atoms now form a conglomerate – your brain – that can not only ponder the very stars that gave it birth but can also think about its own ability to think and wonder about its own ability to wonder. With the arrival of humans…the universe has suddenly become conscious of itself. This, truly, is the greatest mystery of all." - Rama

And what about making the bodies stay just in the first state of decaying??? Is there any way?

I figured it out when I was playing an old blood map early last year.

I found no real use for it, though.

Hey! Hey! Hey! I found a way!!!!! (I dunno If it's Philip's one)

  • Put down any unit
  • Make a Trigger to kill the unit
  • Make a Trigger with the condition: destroy object (that unit)
  • In that trigger, make the effect Create Object: Gaia-Rock, where the unit dies (I tried with a rock, maybe another things can also work)
  • Again, in the same trigger, Remove Object: Gaia-Rock (In the place you selected to create the rock)

  • Test It

Map revealers are the best, they aren't visible, even for a split second. Discoved by mistake.
