Hello all, with the death of my previous project, I have started a new multiplayer map: The Land of Two Castles.

The story is about an ancient blood fued between two nations, each symbolized by a great castle on either side of the realm. If the castle falls, so does the nation. It is time the fued be resolved.

Features
-Unique training/buying system (inspired by zyxomma100's training system in Defend the Castle)
-much strategy involved
-Capture-the-Base system
-A waterfall that I am very proud of.

When I get time, I'll post map screenies. The map is at roughly 80% competion, I got to finish to buying system and the capture the base system.

I'll also post a full map screen shot.

UPDATE: P1 buying triggers have been completed! w00t!

UPDATE: P2 buying triggers have been completed! w00t!

UPDATE: The scenario is in BETA stages. If you're interested in testing this two player map, just leave a post with your email adress and I'll send it ASAP.

Looks good! When do you think it can be finished?

I strayed out of thought and time. Stars wheeled overhead and everyday was as long as a life-age of the earth. But it was not the end. I've been sent back until my task is done...

Sometime this week... If someone could test this on the Zone (computer issues prevent me from hosting) that would be great.

Thanks WildCard and BIHSting! I will have a beta version ready soon. I will have to write the instructions first though.

*SPOILER HINT* Don't waist time on the buildings, go straight for the castle!

Sounds good, DarkRedd. And great name for it too; that would've been a great name for a single player campaign I'm working on now.

Wow. I never dreamed I would've inspired something.

BTW, it's feud, not fued.

Moral System? That would take forever, particularly with all the unit spawning within the game.

*edit*

Maybe with DiGiT's trigger studio, I could copy/paste Beserker Jerker's moral system. Dunno.

You can do a moral system without using Kill Ratio. Sort of a CB-Style "10 kills, 20 kills, 30 kills, 40 kills" thing.

@Fadawah

I'm trying to make this as open has possible. I think Berserker Jerker's system would be better.

@everyone else

The BETA is almost complete. Just four more triggers.

*edit*

@zyxomma100

Yes. You did inspire it. In fact, Defend the Castle is one of my strongest influences.

Well for the music, I think you will have to make your own mind up, depending on the music you like, though the music out of The Battle of Poitiers sets a pretty good mood of action IMO, you might consider using that.

You don't have to have music, though it would be a good idea, once you add some more elevation I think the map is set, then if you want to add some extra players, it will be a whole lot better.

uh, quote from zyxomma100--"I never dreamed that I would have inspired something!"

didn't u get ur idea from www.addictinggames.comon a game called--u guessed it: defend your castle go try it guys, it's fun, it'll boost your micro ability and make you have wrist surgery if you get to level 35 like i did before I quit

(also, don't forget to try out the mages, they're cool )

posted 06-07-04 09:56 PM CT (US)     25 / 115
Chief, if you're going to give credit, give it to the right people.

All Adddicting Games does is link to the real creators of the game, XGen Studios. And really the game is too easy once you get to level 35... a thousand archers kills anything before you see them on the screen. Or just get a few hundred mages and blast radius everything as it walks in.

Darckredd, I'd be willing to playtest if it's finished. I learned to wait until it's finished the hard way.

First you need to buy a Church, or whatever it's called (been a while), and get converts by dropping enemies in your castle. Then you need to buy an Archery Range (or whatever it's called). Then click on the red (I think) flag on your castle during a wave to train one of your converts into archers.

I'm talking about a complete workable version. If it's completed to the point where you are trying to refine it, I'd be willing to help, but I don't usually like playtesting for a work in progress.

Well, it is clear of bugs, and the map is at 99.999999%. In other words, yes, it is completely functional. You could play a game on the Zone, even.

Several things:

Nice, but the map seems a bit big for two players... I really don't see much of the map being used. This might change if you add 4 players.

-Your slaves can build a Blacksmith/Town Center in the training area. Using your Market to trade for food/wood, you can get a lot of researches. For example, Blue can research Long Swordsman, which will mess up Red's conversion triggers.
-Blue's Elite Guard is made obsolete by the Lancer. It's a unit that is slower, has less HP, attack, and armor, yet costs the same amount. Red's Elite Guard has it's attack bonus vs. archers, but I'd still take the Cavalier any day. Why does Blue get Frankish Paladins and Red gets Cavaliers?
-IMO the villages give too much tribute. I suggest increasing the tribute times by at least 50%. Just having two of the villages gives you too much gold to spend without watching the map.
-Red's "Heavy Trebucet Crew" is misspelled.
-I believe the Saboteurs are too powerful. They have an incredible amount of attack, and will take out an entire army right away, for such a cheap cost. I suggest making them Petards, so they become viable only against buildings.
-The Gate Duplication bug has happened to Red. Delete the Gate ends.
-There is no way to win. Destroying all enemy buildings won't work, because the spawn points still produce units, and even if you block them, the units in the menu system allow a player to stay in the game.

How didn't I notice all of those. , zyxomma100 is obviously smarter than the average zoner.

I didn't notice these two, which are the only ones about the game triggers:
-Your slaves can build a Blacksmith/Town Center in the training area. Using your Market to trade for food/wood, you can get a lot of researches. For example, Blue can research Long Swordsman, which will mess up Red's conversion triggers.

Didn't even think of that..

-There is no way to win. Destroying all enemy buildings won't work, because the spawn points still produce units, and even if you block them, the units in the menu system allow a player to stay in the game.

That last one didn't happen to me, of course I never got through an entire game without them quiting, most quit once the castle was down.
