I just did some testing with Genied and realized a clever use of the Dead unit id field of the editor.

By putting in the unit id value into the dead id value, when the unit dies, it simply respawns. Lets take a looksee.

This makes a sabotuer blow up and respawn over and over again at exactly the same place it died.

I just thought this was kinda funny.

Don't think that'll work... A unit considered "dead" by the game will decay and eventually vanish. Which would be a nice trick on it's own, granted.

Have you tested this? I would but I haven't had a chance to open the editor lately. If it works, it would be a great idea. The only problem would be persuading people to swap the data files around.

This does work. I have tested this. The unit does stuff like normal.

Yes, messing with the GeniEd dead unit data is fun. I think this was mentioned by someone in (one of) the original GeniEd threads, but I don't remember who.

I've had fun with this all afternoon! lol

Did you know you could change dead unit ids of projectiles to other units and when a unit shoots that projectile and hits a target, that unit will spawn where the projectile hit.

My friend and I (fooling around in his house) also made scout cavalry do splash and be able to kill hawks and goldmines while spawning onagers with his 20 range shot. When he died, he became a town center, which dies and becomes a demolitionship on land. Which dies and becomes another cemolition ship.

Making trees die and become random units is also fun. Never know what you are going to get. And arrow? a wall? a bobmbard tower?

So maybe you can also let a Trebutchet or a catapult shoot a villager? I don't know, because Genied doesn't work for me

Lmao, I'll be you could. You can just find the villager unit ID and replace the catapult rock ID with that one... Haha that would be funny though, haha. Exploding villagers destroying castles...classic!

Well... no you can't. The unit shooting the projectile will block the way of the unit trying to be created... At least I think that's why it doesn't work.

For something as "simple" as that, it's better to use MPS anyway.

When I tried it (which was way before this topic ), it just made the spawn noise again and again. I didn't see anything. Then again, it was a COBRA shooting a Hero....

yeah. Changing projectiles into units dont work. However, you can make units spawn where some projectiles land, which is kinda cool

I've been playing with this for days

The cool thing is: if you make a normally non-splashed unit have splash damage (usually a large blast radius is required) it will damage and kill everything in its circle. This includes hawks (explosion included), trees, goldmines, fish, and forage bushes, etc

So you can have bushes of death, which kill anthing that tries to forage from them?

No, because forage bushes can't attack. -_-

And besides, triggers do that just fine.
