posted 04-13-06 12:04 PM CT (US)

Here's the general rundown:

The Chu-Han Contention (楚 or 楚, 206–202 BC) was a post-Qin Dynasty interregnum period in China. During this period the rebel kings derived from the collapse of Qin Dynasty formed two camps fighting each other. One camp was headed by Liu Bang, King of Han while the other was headed by Xiang Yu, King Ba of Chu. Several minor kings also fought independent wars against each other during that period. The war ended with total victory of Liu Bang, who claimed himself the emperor and established the Han Dynasty.

Layout Procedure:

I could offer you some reference if you want, MW. I am a Chinese History student.

What is Yu dynasty BTW? I can't recall anything like this from that period of history.

It was my act of fiction. It also shows Xiang's arrogance in claiming an empire too soon.

t_c, it would be nice to dig up info from the period between the collapse of the Qin and the rise of the Han.

I am Taiwanese, aka Chinese, but I know a lot about Han and Qin, but not in between. Perhaps you are the better man.

Sounds interesting...The funny thing is, nearly(pretty much everybody) everybody knows English around here, even though we have people from all over the world. Good luck.

Oh, I didn't know you are Taiwanese before, MW. If that's the case, we could communicate with each other in traditional Chinese later.

I have just brought two books about strategies in different period of Chinese history (including Chu-Han Contention), but it will take me some time to type them into the computer. Before that, you could read "Romance of the Former Han Dynasty" (Qian Han Yan Yi «eº~ºt¸q) here. (in classic Chinese)

Wow. Just wow. The site you linked me = 1337.

EDIT- Hmm, I dunno t_c, I don't think my American computer supports Chinese characters. I'm lucky enough that the text showed up in Chinese, the title bar was all in little boxes.

Well, I'll che]ck it out tomorrow.

BTW, where did you get that pic from? Mortal Kombat or something?

I googled up Chinese Warrior and it came up with some Chinese Ninja picture. I just saved the image, didn't bother to see if it was Mortal Kombat. It just looks cool, no?

@MW

I will find the images for you then, as well as the screenshot for the chapter title in open-lit.com. A tv station in Hong Kong had also produced a TV programme series about Chu-Han Contention, I would try capturing some screenshots from it.

You're getting ahead of yourself, MW. It's not like the old days, when our little excited comments were accepted. It's a new era...

I'll download the prologue now. I didn't have the time before.

REVIEW:

Beautiful. Music fits in perfectly, and characters are very well defined. A very good cutscene.

I'd give it 4.5. At least.

Well done. 4.0. I can tell teh basic intentions of the characters, and the map design is quite enjoyable. The music is well picked, and I hope to see more. I'll playtest, for sure. The e-mail's in the prof, mistah Hong (iirc, aaarg ).

Er, that little parentheses thing never happened.

Yeah, it's gonna take a while though. So sit tight, I guess. Gahh, SS, what needs improving?

The map deisgn was a little bit simple (but it's the kind I like). I mean it's perfect if it's the general look you're aiming at and it will receive a five in most cases, and then there are some triggering things like renaming and such that need to be adressed. I'll take a look again and get back to you - I suck at remembering much.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
