I just found that the types of attack strengths and armour strengths are actually the same, only you have to add 1 to the latter. For example, type 26 of armour neutralize type 25 of attack(vs monk).

Let me see if im understanding this right.

Attack number 5 bonus vs elephants

So that means... Armour #6 would be bonus protection vs elephants?

Lets say elephants have 10 attack. and my unit had an armour type 6 with a value of 5, then the elephant would only do 5 damage to my unit?

But why so many armour classes? Theres really only 3 types of attack: seige, melee, and pierce.

I think I get it, basicly its an 'armour bonus vs certain unit or certain unit type' as opposed to the attack type which is 'attack bonus vs certain unit or certain unit type.'

Actually the melee and pierce attack classes (no siege class) are just two types of attack bouns. The reason why you consider them as BASIC attacks are the same displayed value. I do know adding too many types of attck and armour will make things too complex, but I just want to report it here.

What!? Are you sure, I've done lots of armor/attack modding (for both AoK and SWBG), and it's allways the same number used. Not adding 1 to it!

I think it's because the data-compressing method of GeniED2.1 is slightly different to GeniED1 and hex-edit. (Or it is because AOK:TC's system is different to SWGB)

Ok so GeniEd 2 has recently been updated to 2.1? I don't notice it updated at the Blacksmith.

The link is hidden in one of the many threads on this borad. qaz123tfg's guide seems to have the link, too.

do you guys know under what conditions (of changing unit's attacks, range, etc.) will the game go out of sync on the zone? example- will the game go out of sync if i edit a khan's range? and another question- how do i make it so that other ppl can see the changes i made with GenED2? ive heard that you need to save your file as a .gax file to let everyone else see your changes. Please tell me if this is true, and if so, then how do i do it?

oh yeah, btw, check out the links in my sig

Every player should have the exactly same *.dat file running in a single zone game. No matter what kind of alteration you've made to the *.dat, it will most likely result in "out of sync".

Even if you use the saved-game method, all players should have the same *.dat, too.

Hmm, I think everybody is right except for me

The numbers in the data file are the same for armour/attack; but the numbers shown in GeniEd2 v1.0a are different by 1, because I did it wrong - the armour list is meant to start counting from -1 instead of 0. I did do it correctly at first, then broke it just before releasing it... I'll try to fix it again and upload a new version soon
