Don't you HATE it when a player changes diplomacy on you when he's not supposed to? There is an easy reamady for this. Can you guess it?

Yeah. This little option called 'Lock Teams'

In a custom scenario, set a trigger that changes the civ to your ally, even when he's already your ally, and he won't change.

But in a custom campaign, you can't lock diplomacy. Can you still guess it?

There is another way. Put a cross bowman and a unit of a different player. If the cross bowman ever has the other unit as a target, change the diplomacy so the two players are allied.

Erhem! *puts on glasses and acts like a smart dork*

Trigger 0
Looping: Yes
Objective: No
State: On

Effect 0: Change Diplomacy: Player 1 -> Player 2: Ally
Effect 1: Change Diplomacy: Player 2 -> Player 1: Ally

In this sample, Player 1 and Player 2 must remain friendly to each other.

Darck, your crossbowman thing gave me a great idea on how to keep them from changing diplo. Put a hunting wolf in the corner of the map with a weak unit for every player around it. Then just make trigger so that if any of those units die, you lose! (Muahahahaha)

That is severe, but it would certainly keep that player from cheating again! But I agree, they other method is better than the one I posted.

I never bother with stopping the player from changing diplomacy -- it will bugger up the game anyway, so it's his head on the chopping block. But other types of cheating (marco/polo) I really dislike.

A while ago I posted an unpopular thread where you use the PMANG beta unit to crash the game if cheats are detected. It didn't go down too well. Even AnastasiaKafka blackmailed me, saying that she wouldn't play my campaign if I put that feature in. Bleh. Some people...

Crashes can damage the computer, and it is very annoying. It wasn't a bad idea, but you could've just made them lose, instead of crash their computer

Which other method? Which post?

Wait a tick, if you want many change diplomacy triggers, you would have to create legions of triggers for each change, so if you use the hunting wolf idea, you can put in the most 7 triggers and forget about it.

*laughs*

By any means necessary Lord_Fadawah.

Thank you Lord SnakeEyes:

Crashing the game can also cause errors in the game files.

The 'can' or potential for damage in both my game files and my computer is enough for me. Especially when the feature is unecessary.

I now understand that crashing can harm the game files. But does reinstalling the game fix it?

Of course it does! You can not brake the CD with a crash.

Looping the change diplomacy effect has always worked best, although your method is also fine (unsure, but it might reduce lag too).

Edit: And it is "Guard!"

Drastic times call for drastic measures. Frankly, cheats have never been more rampant. When a friend of mine plays scenarios he used lumberjack, cheese steak jimmy's, marco/polo, the whole kit and caboodle. According to him, cheat codes are the way the game is played at his school. Something must be done to combat it.

Oh yes, but I didn't realise it could do permanant damage. My computer crashes on a regular basis. Just wait, Bill Gates, just wait...
