1. yes this is about anubites
2. no this is not a guide. there will be no tests.

this will be about practical uses of anubites in a standard game.

anubites are fast classical myth units, with a nifty jump attack, allowing them to jump over walls or other units in a battle.

aomh already has all the stats of the anubite ......here

as you can see, they have relatively high armour, but the lowest hp of any eggy myth unit.


uses:

1. raiding

Anubites are uber raiders. with their jump attack, they can get over walls which might be around reasources, jump away from enemy units to a working villiger, or from a non-working villiger to a working villiger. remember, raiding isnt so much about killing villies, as stopping them from working.

other units that work well for raiding are spearmen, as they have a speed of 5.0 compared to the anubite's 5.3, or a combination of rocs and Petsuchos. you can find their stats here:


2. agressive scouting

as they are fast, and have a reasonable line of sight, anubites are ideal for finding that enemy gold mine, or food patch/forward base. used in pairs, they can delay any attacking forces they find, or raid gold quickly.

subsitutes for this are spearmen (again), camelery and mercs
if you have hathors medjay tech.


3.in a battle/microing

this is probably the area where the anubite does best. besides being (imo)the easiest melee unit to micro, it actually encourages you to micro more with other units, as the effects are more obvious. they are ideal as a back up to take out seige, or (as said below, i wrote this bit in an edit ) to take out the enemies ranged units by jumping over the action. they can not only be micro'd at other units, but away from heroes, by targeting another unit, they just jump away. very usefull.

other micro-heavy eggy units : any ranged unit pretty much... slingers are good....


4. for use with god powers

anubites must have been made with this in mind.... get a pack of around 4-6 anubites, and they can just run past any defence/enemy units, to end up at their farm saturated tc, allowing you to cast that sneaky meteor/ancestors/locust swarm gp..... nasty.

this is mainly a job for the anubites, as they make walls useless, and are one of the fastest/durable units avaliable to you, but spearmen, mercs and sphinxes also work well, as they have a combo of speed and high pierce armour.

thats the end of my list of suggestions on how to use the anubite... thanks to heaven games, which is this site... so you dont really need a link to it..... because you can get there from the toolbar-thingy down there below the post reply thingy....

you can also use them in later ages, since they just jump over the meat shield to get to ranged units.
so you basicly only have to worry about the meat shield.

i find that around 3-4 anubites (upgrades) in you army is great at taking out the ranged units of other civs.
do they cost 4 pop? (isn't it just 3 pop in the xpac?)

Have you ever seen The Mummy with Brandon Frasier? There are nice shots of the annubites from Age of Mythology in that they didn't use the special jump attack and they didn't have rabies.
