Topic Subject: Newbie collector on LoC II
posted 06-19-11 03:48 AM EDT (US)
Lords of Celederion II is a nice team game 3 goodies against 3 badies on an XL map. It is a modification of mine of the famous "Lords of Celederion" by Low_K. I now offer a second game on LoC II (the first one already running here) since there was request.

Players interested in this second game are invited to post. It isn't really restricted to "newbies" but I wished to make it clear it is open to everyone. (I could participate myself if you request and if needed.) You can decide whether you want to play this blind or open and whether you want spell trading permitted.

So, the positions are open!

Game Rules:
- team game (fixed alliances)
- house rules
- build outpost OFF
- teleport items ON

Special Rules:
- not allowed to build or use Archon.Saint
- no trade with AI

GAME 2

Roles:
King Bordhunir, Dwarves - Luke (notmyrealmsn_1 at hotmail dot com)
Pope Vindicatus, Archons - Eagleman (eagle35 at clearwire dot net)
Queen Elise, Elves - Gilafron (schnedar at gmail dot com)

King Grimjaw, Orcs - Bluebaby (redhaven12 at gmail dot com)
Queen Arachnia, Dark Elves - Apocrypha (humblebytes at hotmail dot co dot uk)
Count Ludovic, Undead - Davespice (david dot honess at gmail dot com)

Major Baggins, Halflings - AI Emperor

Good! That is for a start
Luke, where can I put you on this list?

I suppose I would consider myself a newbie, only been playing Shadow Magic online for about 6 months now. I would like to take the Undead if it's okay

Certainly, Sir!

Let's see how I fare with the dark elves - sign me up!

Ok, done! - Assuming I can take a seat, too, we have to coax 2 more newbies, or even non-newbies, into taking up a role. - What are the options, let me see! Consider someone might wish to play against me, he could in a cunning move occupy the "Orc" role which closes the evil side and forces me into taking a good one. Then again, if we are suddenly flooded by applications, I might not even play. Third, say someone wanted to play against me and force me into an evil role, he would have to bring a friend and request both open good roles. Interesting decisions!

Ow I did not see this thread. As much as I loved to choose the greenish orcs, I'm convinced the little Dwarves will bring me more pleasure. So I'll choose the Dwarves.

What tastes like chicken? Precious ? Yes !
Chicken does, but so does turkey. It means they are all
against us, how else would explain such an inconsistency ?

You ,you're against me, at least I know that.

The Dwarves are a good choice on this map, but you have to seek to develop quickly. Thanks for joining, Luke!

I was also wondering what is the reason for the house rule of no building of outposts, and how are the Archons to play on this map ?
posted 06-30-11 02:15 PM EDT (US)     12 / 31
No outpost because this map already counts a large number of cities. The archons are needed to push back the Undead as in this game halfings are set as AI. Also some early help to the dwarves against Dark Elves migth help themselves with some agressive defense from units spawning out UG gates near their capital.

OK, that's cool. may I still use pioneers to build roads, and rebuild structures that have been razed ?

Yes, you can.

Hey Everyone,

Griffith made a new AoW chat room. You can find the way to it by clicking on the "current news" link on the front page of the Heaven site, top of left column.

I posted that we needed one more player there for our new map.

Also he created a chat room at http://02.chat.mibbit.com

then, enter your nickname, and #AoW

I look forward to our game ! I hope someone answers soon !

I'll answer the call. Count me in. I'm finishing up a couple other games so I got the bandwidth for a new game.

Ok, thank you, now we are complete! Please everyone check the correctness of their email address in the header. - I think it doesn't make sense to start the game though as Luke is going on holidays and he isn't even playing his other games now, so I propose to wait until he is back. Wish you good journey!

Yep, my details are correct.

Since Luke's only away for one week and there are six of us, perhaps we could start anyway with him as the last player on the turn list (i.e. evil team plays first).

I don't know where Eagleman's playing from, would the time zones still work out for the best if we arranged things this way?

I don't support it! This would mean mixing up a game because someone is a week away, and I don't see a need for that. Moreover, I want all games on this map comparable, hence there is a good point to keep the schedule.

Practically this doesn't make a big difference as the average playing time per person in this forum is certainly above one day. So, just relax in the mind is a better path ..
posted 07-24-11 12:48 PM EDT (US)     25 / 31
Ok, we are about to start. There is one thing to manage: should we play with spell trading allowed or forbidden? Both has drawbacks and advantages, and in this team game this decision makes up quite a different playing.

So what do you think and prefer? (In the other game people decided to play without spell trading.)

Eagleman, please use this thread for logging for the game. Sorry, I didn't mention it because it is kind of a standard procedure in the forum.

Hey Blue,

Will someone try and let Luke know that he posted his turn in the forum, but did not send the turn to me. I sent him an email just now, but you guys are closer in time.

Thanks !

Eagle

It is habit to post such information in the turn thread of the game. Also if you sent him a message it is good practice to leave a note in the turn thread for the record. - And, btw, do you think our emails would reach him earlier than yours?
