Their verdict: 9/10 and early candidate for Game of the Year. Biggest flaws were pathfinding and load times. Most everything else was pretty sweet.

No, I'm not being sarcastic.

"Loading pauses are painfully long, too."

My heart litterally dropped as I heard this news

Baggies great escape!

Professor Hubert Farnsworth: Bender, be careful! That's the ship's diamond filament tether. It's unbreakable.
Bender: Then why do I have to be careful?
Professor Hubert Farnsworth: It belonged to my Grandmother.

Are they as long as the demo though?

It was a good read, humorous in places too. I laughed out loud when the caption of that picture read 'My favourite historical error is that they've put Glasgow on the west coast of Scotland. It's for game balance reasons, apparently.'

Also, newsied.

If the load times are like what they were in the demo we are all screwed.

Oh no. long loads. That, to me is somewhat gamekilling. I'll still buy it though.

Long load times are a pain but if its to be then its to be.

What concerns me is the pathfinding issue in sieges. That was a pain in M2TW and it would gut wrenching if your troops do do stupid things like open doors to the enemy.

Hopefully both issues will be patched later.

I hope the sheer size of the game isnt off putting, because I hate micro managing large empires in M2TW. This is one reason why I like the sound of the Prestige system rather than World Domination.

I would much prefer to manage and maintain a small/medium but powerful Empire rather than one that span the globe and bores me with mindless chores.

At least there are not supposed to be as many sieges when taking another province, except for star forts.

Interesting article, a lot of old stuff in new words, but interesting no less.
Defenders have a horrible habit of leaving the castle via ropes when ordered to move places. Concentrating on a battle to find that one of your troops has decided to climb outside the castle and come back in, opening the gate and allowing cavalry to charge in... well, it's a low point.
That does seem a bummer, but I would expect it to be addressed in a patch.
Total War is scary big.
Quote of the year.
