when i try to go to the data file, there is nothing in it. does anybody know what's going on with that, because i'm confused. also, once i'm able to get the data file working, where do i go to to play non-playable factions? i'm kinda computer illiterate, sorry. i'd appreciate any help.

try asking it to show hidden files and folders? that's very strange that it should be empty....

assuming it works, im sure theres at least a few topics around here that answer the question, just use the search engine

Make sure you are looking in the correct file. It could be that you are looking at the wrong one.

This will work if you have RTW 1.5. I cannot vouch for it working on any other version.

Go to: RTW\World\Maps\Campaign\Imperial_Campaign\descr_strat.txt

Make a copy of it for a backup to be on the safe side. Then open it up. You will see the beginning looks like this:
;

Custom campaign script generated by Romans Campaign Map Editor

campaign imperial_campaign
playable
romans_julii
romans_brutii
romans_scipii

end
unlockable
egypt
seleucid
carthage
parthia
gauls
germans
britons
greek_cities

end
nonplayable
romans_senate
macedon
pontus
armenia
dacia
numidia
scythia
spain
thrace
slave

end
Change it to look like this:
; Custom campaign script generated by Romans Campaign Map Editor

campaignimperial_campaign
playable
romans_julii
romans_brutii
romans_scipii
egypt
seleucid
carthage
parthia
gauls
germans
britons
greek_cities
macedon
pontus
armenia
dacia
numidia
scythia
spain
thrace
slave

end
unlockable
end
nonplayable
romans_senate
end
However, the interface in the campaign selection screen is only made to display 20 factions, so the rebel/slaves are not shown there even if you unlock them as above. If you want to play them you have to move one of the other factions to unlockable or nonplayable. So I put the senate in nonplayable.
