I am having trouble even starting SWGB(CC). I am running Vista Home Basic SP2. Here is the error message- could not initalize graphics system, make sure your video card and driver are compatible with DirectDraw. Here is a detailed error message-

I ran it fine with Vista and I run it fine with Windows 7. Have you tried running it in compatibility mode? Right click on the file, click properties and go over to the compatibility tab. Make it run compatibility on XP mode.

so that will work? giving it a shot right now. will running in compatiability mode work for other games like starcraft? cause starcraft wouldnt run either.

it didnt work, the same thing happened when trying to run in XP. i don't know what to do???

I know exactly what to do. The same thing happened to me. Go to My Computer/C:/ProgramFiles/LucasArts/Star wars galactic battlegrounds/game. Click on BattlegroundsX1 or whatever it's called. THAT WILL work. I forgot that's what I had to do.

Age of Empires 2 uses the same game engine as SWGB, you should look for "aoe 2 could not initalize graphics system" in Google.

Here are some things I've found :
- Disable your videocard in advanced settings, restart your computer and play.
- Try to install DirectX 9.03c.
- Adjust/lower display settings before playing (800x600, 256 colors).
