The first great find is brought to you by Mandalorian.
While searching the AOK files he found that you can have two different attacking graphic sets. One the regular attack when an enemy comes within his range, the other is when you select an enemy to attack. How this is done....

The 4th number in the unknown02 is the type for attack(7), the 9688 is the walking graphics(for a clone trooper), and 9686 is the attacking frames. This will make Fighting yoda turn into a clone trooper for his second attack. Copy this patch into your patches file, and give it a try! This was just an example, no reason for Yoda to turn into a clone!


I've been able to create a new unit using the cannon text...

I'm not the greatest with graphics, please be nice, or not, I guess it really doesn't matter!!

This unit can fly, or just hover.
When it is in hover mode....
1. It can pick up/garrison troops.
2. Attacks with a Dual Repeater laser, strong against troops
3. Limited to walkable terrain, and slower.
4. Create, and lay, land mines(Not Tested yet)

When it is in flying mode
1. It can't pick up/garrison troops.
2. Attacks with anti-mech cannon.
3. Flys over all terrain, much faster than when hovering.


The Next find in Genied was while studing the Units.txt file. While I did not figure out everything, I did figure out a lot that will benefit the modding community!

This makes a unit attack,....

Please keep in mind that the unit must have the right buttons in order to attack, or garrison, so don't get to excited. I've already tried to make an Air transport attack, or a fighter garrison, but I need to figure out the buttons.


Now there are others, like unit/worker can collect resources, and it shows which graphics to use. But those are a bit more complicated, and have not figured most of the unknowns out. This is how predator animals can attack, type 7.

Mandalorian, I forgot how to add the garrison flag on a unit, and.....

I had an idea when I first heard about this. The idea was this: You have a unit, an infantry. He has a normal blaster. He can deploy, which, as I understand, basically changes the unit to a completely different type, into the exact same infantry, except he has another weapon. So--you could have a trooper go from blaster to AA rocket. Would that be possible?

The second thing, that we actually thought of for the HALO conversion before y'all figured out how to work the cannon thing, would be a repeater trooper that has to deploy to be able to fire. This would be possible, yes? Basically a deployable cannon with the characteristics of a Trooper.

In fact you beat me to some of this stuff. I found out what this data did but never got around to figuring out all the specifics!

I allways figured that it could be done with the units data...

As to your question:
All you do is change one simple unknown:

If it's a 0, no dice, if it's a 3, then it supports tech research and unit creation.

Thanks Mandalorian! There are others that I haven't isolated the effect. Unknown02: 4th value is the type. Workers have different type value (6 I think) that make them collect resources, but they have alot of the unknowns used, which makes it harder to isolate.

I had another question, building rate of fire(reload) I've been trying to figure that out.

I've also been talking to Sarthos about writing a more complete guide. Maybe between the three of us we could break down the files, and post a guide.

SPARTAN058, Ok that wouldn't work at this time, because we are still limited to the abilities that the cannon has. It cannot attack aircraft, though I feel that after more research on the unit.txt file the unknown that lets Simon, (E)Hvy Assault mech, and the Decimator attack air units will be found.

Can units create other units like that? (the cannon creating landmines) Could I make, say, a repeater trooper create a worker or something?

I've just had the most wonderful idea.

Anyone here know what Robotech is? For the uninitiated, it's an old show about aircraft that can mechamorphose into mobile-suit-like mechs. They're called Veritechs.

So, you have a trooper unit that can transform into an air unit. A Veritech Battloid that can mechamorphose into a Veritech Fighter.

Another around here who knows what a Mobile Suit is? Wow, I thought I was the only one.

Anyway, I have a question. Can a unit be made to physically switch weapons? I am currently moddeling a Gundam mobile suit, the RX-79G Gundam EZ8 from the 08th MS Team and I was wondering if I could make it have the machine gun, move at moderate speed, but use a deploy button and have the unit switch to it's beam saber and move quicker.

Delta, that was one of the things I had thought of, too. As far as I can tell, the button turns the deployable unit into a completely different unit, so anything SHOULD be possible.

Of course, the area in which I had been thinking to have the weapons switching was something like HALO--you have a SPARTAN that can switch to a rifle or a rocket launcher.

...wait a minute. You're modeling the almighty EZ-8? You wouldn't happen to have MSN, Yahoo, or AIM, would you? I'd love to talk with someone who can model MS.

so if if i was to make an air cruiser capable of becoming anm air transport and vice versa how would i have the buttons appear to faciltate the change
