The Ainu

History
The Ainu are a people with a cultural and racial background which is different from that of the ethnic Japanese. They have been populating Hokkaido, northern Tohoku, the Kurile Islands and Sakhalin, but today only a small population remains mainly in Hokkaido.
According to one of several theories, the Ainu are descendants of Mongoloid migrants who entered the Japanese islands before the Jomon period. They were later displaced and assimilated, when the ethnic Japanese expanded their territory northernwards.
In the Meiji Period (1868-1912), the Ainu received the status of "former aboriginals", but suffered under official discrimination for some years. In 1997, a new law was passed which provides funds for the research and promotion of Ainu culture.

Skystrider, I'm also a British Columbian and I know a bit about the Ainu. There's a National Geographic article about them, and we learned about them way back in sixth grade. I've got a good memory for these things.

Great idea. By the way, I've heard of the Ainu, and I'm American. However, just by looking at your description, I think tha Ainu would be somewhat overpowered.

Mythos_Ruler: Oops. Moved the Byakko to Aionina.

Shala_LoL: The RoG would probably be Moshir, the magical island in the sky.

hey skystrider,
I came here following a link from the AoM Moding forum.
Just want to add an opinion, there's a theory that the Ainou are leftovers from the Greek invasion under Dionysous the 1st, that happened in myhic times and it was a counteroffensive against a previous major invasion of the Mediterranean by the Indians.
There are many things that testify to this theory, like the Ainou (they're a white race and not Mongoloids), the Greek names in the Far East (like Polynesia), the worship of some gods, the Aztek and Inka belief that the gods (dressed in battle metallic armour) would return ~ hence the reception of the conquistadores as gods perhaps, etc.
