As a result of the Combining SD and MPD Poll, we're now looking at a merger date of late September/early October (giving us plenty of time to plan the transition). Now... we need a name for the new forum. Give me a bunch of suggestions and I'll list them up here. They should be descriptive, so people know what what the forum's about by looking at the name, and preferably, the acronym for the forum shouldn't suck.

Scenario Design & Modding, or Modding & Scenario Design. Don't really care either way. We need something formal and to the point because this isn't just one of those casual forums, it's just a tad more serious.

    so why still seperating those names

    Game Editor's Guild

    We wanted to combine, well we shall combine.
    If we think out names like Scenario & Modding we will never get the feeling that these 2 actually were combined, so there will always be an uncomfortable feeling about it.

    so I suggest Game Editor's Guild as a combined names of these 2 to make clear the discussion is for both.
    We shouldnt combine these 2 discussions if we can't agree about name and difrence between scenario design campaign design and gamedesign.
    A combined forum means that you must accept to encounter both types of topics at the forum as that is what you wish.

    I think most of us see quickly enough about the name of most topics theirselves if they go about modding or scn editing

    so my suggestion + motivation:

    or variation
    The Age of Empires 2 Editing Guild

    @ Aro: that's why I added the "Discussion" - S&MD

    Or just "SMD"

    @Cilib: That's not too bad, but I like the part "Editing"...I think it's fairly clear, since a description underneath will help newbies find their way around and most forumers can relate "editing" to both SDing and MPs...I'm guessing "Editor's Edifice" doesn't sound good to anyone though...

    I personally think the metaphorical names are stupid. I'd go for something like "Scenario and Modpack Design". SMD. It fits, I think.

    Also, quick question: Will the archives of old threads currently in MPD/SD be lost?

    Nope, they won't be lost. It turns out we can do a full forum merger, so we'll be doing that; any old MPD threads can be looked up with the forum's search feature, and the same goes for any old SD threads. Every single thread in both forums will be there, no matter how old (if it was any different, you can trust I wouldn't do it =/).

    It's very possible they'll all have a different URL though, but we're not too sure about the specifics.

    I'd go for Game Editor's Guild - it is medievalish (fits with the other forums) and simultaneously its meaning is crystal clear.

    I suppose, but those things have always been called that. Going from Scenario Design (literal) to something metaphorical would be a little much, IMO.
