In the vanilla game the units have only 5 angles because the others are mirrored, can I somehow edit something on the data to use more angles?

I will attach a picture so is easy to understand what I am trying to ask:



What I want is that the model can be rotated 360grades and not mirror the images.

if I learn how to do it, it is something that you will like to see on the new graphics or is a waste of time?

It wont be a wast but its not needed also we are fine with the 5 angles for 15 years now .I highly doubt that it can be done we cant even get moving water in the old version.

For me personally the 5 angles are also ok, i mean the units are so small is it really worth the work ? makes it really a big difference ingame ?
I doubt that the old devs and designer was lazy about that, maybe it has also a reason how it is.

Jeorge, it maybe can be possible by usig advance genie editor 3, in the graphics tab you can see on top the string "mirroring mode" normal unit use number 6, instead ships use number 12, but if you want to find the correct number (that I don't know) try here by asking Keisari Tapsa.

Hope it will be useful, however, did you never finished the gothic armour champion in this picture?

About the beta female villager, I have just an animation, the mining one. It's 75 frames but the problem is it's in Alpha pallete, so you have to convert the slp to AOK.
You have all 5 slp's for the miner or just one?

Jorgito will you be releasing the FE units with reskin v2?

I was playing around with the data noticed something that might be of use.
The secondary graphics can be of use like AFFA said the when you give the second standing frame 50% of the time the standing will switch between the 2 frames.can be used to make the units cheer or taunt.
The secondary walking will appear when you order the unit to attack,follow and petrol.This works for individual units mainly In a group it will happen 50% of the time.From what I can see only follow command to a group will show the 2nd walking all the time.
Still trying to figure out what the secondary death animation will do.

back in the days machines wasnt that powerfull as today,
more movement and animations could produce some fps drops or lag, i guess thats was the reason - also the reflection remove of ships in water.

Besides the water is static so why not static ships?I guess that why they made the 5 sided units also to make the game faster eve though you can make 8 sided units work.

Then we have to make both water and ships unstatic

But I doubt the reflection have removed not because of speed of machines,But because it will be unrealistical if the ship is quite near the land

What noobman did and I improved are just moving objects placed over water to give a animated feel if that is what your referring to.Unless we can do something like the HD version the water is static.

hey want to add a new building to the tech tree and it dont want work ;/
it isnt the first time i added a building to the tech tree but this time it seems i forgot or dont see correct, tried it also with an base of another buildings but no

i want add a new building to the castle age in the House row (no connection to the house):

Buildings are hardcoded to IDs, to add new buildings you need to edit the exe.

but the building that i want add is the trade workshop (110)
adding the sea gate was also no problem in the conquerors.

or was it just a coincidence that the sea gate / palisede gate fit under the palisade wall ?

What i was told is that the sea gate(palisade gate in AoFE) was hooked, so it can be enabled. Anything new needs exe hack like John said, but i assume you want to use it for Steam?

yes steam version, and normally i dont want touch the exe, i know that in the forgotten dlc the palisade gate is under the palisade wall,
i tried the same with the empires_x1_p1.dat file the conquerors (base hd edition) and it worked, or did it just work because it works for the forgotten too ?

It only works because they edited the executable for it so it can be added in AoF. Seems like that edit is also in non-AoF-HD. For the base game, adding new buildings is possible. Look at daniel's Portuguese Civ Mod, for example: It adds a whole 3 buildings. (but every single of them requires a specific change in the game exe, so as long as you stay on modding HD you're out of luck )

If you really want to add it can't you just replace a "useless" building in the tech tree (like house, outpost, palissadd gate...) ? I don't know much about tech tree editing but could it work ?

You'd have to use the very same ID, so that would require changing all other things related to that building, too. (And some, like houses, have stuff hardcoded, too.) AIs would also require appropriate modification.

Units are (mostly) not hardcoded, no. However, you can't add more than 1 unit and no researches to a unit.

I'm fairly sure you can use as many angles as you want, since there is mirroring mode that can be turned off.

is it possible to set in the dat file a amount of villager that can gather from one gold mine / stone mine or forage bush (as example) ?
-may you know it from EE, there are just 6 villager able to work on an resource field-

and are farms hardcoded about this ? or is it possible same as in aoe 1 to let more than 1 villager work on one farm ?

As far as I ever noticed, in AoE 1, 2 villager per farm can work, but only one gather resources from it, then, once the "gatherer" go to the drop site, the second villager, being alone, starts gathering, so the old farmer, once return, simply don't gather nothing untill the other farmer go to drops!

In this way you get the same effect of the Starcraft's gatherers from the minerals!

The quality of Jorgito R2 is better than R1, but the design of R1 is far much better than R2, in R1 the units have heavier armours and longer swords.

Hi Jorgito,

I've been silently admiring your work for years now.

I read your post a few pages above about an attempt to create a mod over the Game of Thrones universe. it's sad you quited it, but i can understand your reasons.

I'm not a modder (i wish i was and i should really try one day) but i'm trying to compile some existing mods, most of which are from you i guess, to create a universe "Game Of Thronish".

Would you eventually share your slp's of the Stark units ? (Especially the Unique Unit bellow,outlined in Red)



I find it very, very cool.
I like the way the character holds his sword.
It remembers me the Nordic warrior (modded) but with better clothes/armor



I'm not an expert, but i know some way in AGE 3 to improve my game.
I replaced a colour with black to play as the Night Watch for example

I know it looks more very dark grey than black, i couldn't find the right setting to make it good black :



I could try (and i will) start modding myself, but i would always be lightyears behind your level... your unit sets are just perfect and i would never pretend i did it myself. It's even not to release it as a mod myself...
