The Fourth Somewhat-Annually-Held Designer Awards

Discussion Thread

Whew, its been a whopping nine months since Jared posted the discussion thread for the last Designer Awards, and I see it time for another round of nominating, voting, and disagreeing about the final results! For simplicity sake, the format for the threads of this contest will be the same as the last. Props to Jared for making my work (somewhat) easier.

Thread Purpose and Agenda

As you might have guessed, this thread is essentially just a place where forumers can discuss, banter, brag, and generally chat it up about the Designer Awards. That said, I must insist that all such discourse be kept to this thread and this thread alone; sifting through too much clutter in the nomination and voting threads makes tabulating votes an even more painful process.

Agenda:

There will be four separate threads for the awards....

  • Discussion Thread
The thread where you share you opinions on the current system. Suggestions, complaints, comments, etc belong here to prevent clutter.
    (This thread)

  • Nominations
After the discussion is over, it is time for the nominations. You nominate designers, scenarios, mods, etc in this thread.
    Link

  • Voting
After nominating the fun doesn't stop! This thread is used for voting, and ONLY voting. No comments please.
    (Link TBA)

  • Presentation
The fun is still not over! The winners of the awards will be presented in this thread after being tallied up.
    Presenter: Someone special.
    (Link TBA)

Now is where you come in. Discuss anything that has to do with the awards. What awards do you want? When should the nominating/voting take place? Do you like waffles? Should the nominating happen in a different way? Everything is on the table for discussion. (though is not guaranteed to change).

oh you can wait for what I can give
you know what I am so you know how I live
try to look proud but you’re not in the slightest
its happening now and it’s always been like this.

Very, nice Papaya. Hopefully this will encourage some people to get posting their announcements a little early. Perhaps you will even see something new from my end.

I agree with Titan602's without team awards and with a newbie prize

I don't think we should have negative awards like "Baddest Person". Keep this fun and nice.

Another suggestion is a "Best looking announcement award".

How about an award for the best idea for a scenario/campaign?? That would be cool

If you don't know what to write, start writing. Same thing with scenario design. If you have know idea yet, start designing.

Best Pioneer, for the person who introduced the best new trigger system/trick to the community.

That might not be a good idea, for it's a bias choice, and most of us knows who that award would go to.

That would be for everything, unless you forbid all AoMH members to vote.

    Quote:

most of us knows who that award would go to.

Archaeopterix - He wrote a part about revolutionary game ideas.
nottud - Discovered many new tricks and made a few good tools for better designing.
Paperfriend - Wrote a guide for an use for hotkeys.
reyk - His editor greatly improved designing.
The Vandhaal - For making the first big underwatertown.
Urgwaine - For A Trip to Talos, a whole city in space.

Just in 5 seconds, then we also have some others: pftq, recently made some triggers, and Alex has been spamming the frontpage recently to attract designers. I am not sure if you want to count pftq and Alex, but 6 entries is more then I can think of for other categories.

And it was just an idea I got

we should just get a bunch of suggestions and vote on the awards that are the best because there are so many differnt awards we could include because there are so many things you can do with the editor and then there is stuff on the forums and community.
