~ ENDGAME ~

Email the host with day/night actions or any questions!

Several extremely highly ranked members of the Church of Scientology sat in their locked meeting room. What could they do against the increasing number of anti-Scientology protesters spreading lies and hate, turning the world against them? After several intense hours of deliberation, Operation Polymorph was approved. Key opposers the church's ideals would be found and kidnapped. To avoid suspicion, it was decided to only kidnap one individual per night.

Unfortunately, several pages of the official Operation Polymorph document were photographed by an unknown infiltrator. Instead of showing the plans to the world, the traitor decided to avoid telling the media and instead notify those who the document identified as potential targets. And so it began, the pivotal battle for the Church of Scientology. Can they complete Operation Polymorph or will they be outnumbered by their supposedly enlightened opponents? Not even I know.

Game Structure:

This will be a traditional game of mafia with seventeen players. Any typical roles might be seen in this game, as well as custom roles. This game of mafia is designed to be somewhat of a return-to-roots mafia experience, the reason for this being that the game is based on what I like to call a "loose theme", where everyone has a themed role but role claiming is not as powerful or useful as it is in normal, stricter themed games. Also be aware that I expect people who sign up to this mafia to be committed to playing the game. Obviously those with a good reason to stop playing can be replaced but I do not expect to have to replace players who are inactive. If a player appears to be going inactive, they will be prodded. If there is not a swift response to that prod, they will be replaced. If a replacement cannot be found quickly, they will be modkilled instead.

Rules and Game Info:

  • Each day phase will continue until a single player has the majority (greater than half) of votes on them, which will result in that player being lynched. For example, if 10 players remain, 6 votes on a single player will result in that player being lynched (even if one or more voters changes their mind after these votes have accumulated). If activity dwindles during the day a deadline might be imposed at the host's discretion. If activity does not return to an acceptable level or a majority vote is not reached within the set deadline, no-one will be lynched that day and the night phase will commence.
  • Each night phase will last 48 hours. If you do not email your night actions to the host within the designated night period then you may be granted leniency but this is at the host's discretion. You are advised to decide and perform night actions on time.
  • To vote a player to be lynched, you must bold your choice. An example of the formatting you can use is shown below:

    Vote: Forummer X.

  • In order to change your vote, you must unvote your original choice first. You must specify the player you are unvoting - this helps the host and also ensures people are following the game decently. You shouldn't be forgetting who you're currently voting for. The following is an example of an acceptable change of vote:

    Unvote: Forummer X.
    Vote: Forummer Y.

  • You cannot vote for yourself.
  • If you wish to not lynch anyone on the current day, simply vote for "No Lynch". Votes for "No Lynch" work in the same way as votes against any other player.
  • The game ends when every team is either dead or incapacitated, or has fulfilled their win condition. The town's win condition is to eliminate all threats to them.
  • If you die, you're dead. Don't go spreading information and refrain from posting in this thread.
  • If you are declared officially missing, you will be treated as dead. You must not post in this thread, you cannot be voted for and you will not be able to vote or perform any actions associated with your role.
  • If a dead or officially missing player posts in this thread in order to wish their team good luck then no action will be taken but if the host decides that any information has been revealed in the post, that player's team will be punished at the host's discretion.
  • Don't talk about this game outside of this thread unless your role says you can.
  • Don't post in this thread during the night phase. If you do, your punishment is at the discretion of the host depending on the time and contents of the post but it will usually result in a modkill. Do not complain if you post at night and get modkilled, no matter what you are posting for.
  • Don't quote any e-mail correspondance between you and the host, including your role email. You may paraphrase but if you are unsure about what you can say and what you cannot, contact the host first.
  • Don't edit your posts. If you do, your punishment is at the discretion of the host depending on the nature of the edit but it will usually result in a modkill. Do not complain if you edit a post and get modkilled.
  • If you are going to be away from the game for an extended period of time (for example, going on holiday for a week or longer), tell the host in advance so that they can replace you if necessary.
  • If you simply stop posting and become inactive, you will be prodded. If your activity does not pick up or you do not reply to the prod, you will be replaced if possible. If a replacement cannot be found quickly, you will be modkilled. If you sign up to play this game, I expect you to play.
  • If you have a question about the game, you should email the host. Using the thread to ask questions is not advised (especially not at night where it could result in a modkill). The host will make their answer public if they feel it is necessary.
  • It is not my fault if you don't read and follow the rules.

Operation Polymorph was due to begin any time now and most in Scientology HQ were nervous. They knew that those selected to carry out the operation would not be told of their duty in advance. When would it begin? Would they be chosen to carry out this task for their Church? The only thing they were certain of was that they'd soon find out.

    IT IS NOW NIGHT 0
Please send your night actions to the host as soon as possible. Night will last a maximum of 48 hours, with a degree of leniency.

Please note that not every player with night action(s) can perform their action(s) on Night 0.
Your role e-mail will state whether you can use your night action(s), if you have any, on Night 0 or not.

Tom Cruise and his task group had been following their target, Ashrzr, for a few hours now. He knew that if he was to succeed this first strike, he would be doing a great service for his beloved Church. As his target entered a quiet street, he gave the signal to his comrades and within seconds, a number of black vans surrounded the unfortunate prey. As they restrained their target, Tom Cruise approached, failing to hide his permanent grin. "No longer will you sprea-". Their victim struggled free and leaped forward, reaching behind his back for his trusty dagger. Before he could reason what was happening in his head, Ashrzr had plunged the weapon into his face.

The group of kidnappers rushed towards their leader, dragging the mad man away and into one of the vans. "Holy mother of Jebus, call an ambulance!". Another of the group quickly persuaded everyone it was hopeless; their leader was already dead. Solemnly, the group took their prize away before anyone else saw what had happened, wondering what their superiors were thinking getting them to capture this clearly unstable fellow.

The news of the night's incidents had reached the rally taking place the next morning. A few highly respected frequent protestors convened everyone they could trust in an effort to figure out what was going on. It was clear something evil was brewing within the Church of Scientology and that none of them were safe. And so it began, a torrent of accusations and arguments, as they attempted to root out the attackers. Would they succeed before they all mysteriously disappeared?

  • Ashrzr, an Easily Distracted Insane Scientologist Serial Killer with the ability to kill one player every night, has been declared missing. He won by himself.
  • Kyle Santos, playing Tom Cruise, with the ability to permanently change one person's vote, has been killed. He won with the Scientologists.

    It is now DAY ONE.
There are 15 players accounted for, so 8 votes are required for a lynch.

    Happy hunting!

I wonder how dead "officially missing" people are. It might just be that the two lists exist to make it clear who was killed by which group.

Oh well, unless any cop(s) have anything to share, I guess its random pressure time. On that basis:

This strikes me as odd- is there a mole working inside the Scientology group? It would fit in with the traitor mentioned in the OP.

Also, the word leader in reference to Cruise- leader of his group, akin to a Godfather, or just the one leading the kill this time round?

The first six words in the story. 'Tom cruise and his task group' makes me wonder if there are not maybe two groups.

About the leader, I think just the leader of the kill. Because of this sentence:
wondering what their superiorers were thinking getting them to capture this clearly unstable fellow.

Would it be safe to guess that "easily-distracted" means territorial? It would explain the rather convenient double-death that occurred.

    posted 07-30-09 01:38 PM CT (US)     15 / 742
Yes, I think that would fit.

So, what, on guesses we've got the Sane people, and perhaps two groups of scientologists, and a 3rd party that's been kidnapped. I wouldn't discount the possibility that the scientology group(s) have a limited converter ability, based on the organisation in RL, but the groups would have to be small to make up for this. Presumably if there are two scientology groups the two would win if the number of scientologists including those not in their group were in majority.

Finally, Kidnapping- would it be possible that until the group that have done the kidnapping are all dead/whatever, they're not allowed to post in the thread, but once the kidnappers are all dead/whatever, they're able to take part in the game again?

I wonder how dead "officially missing" people are. It might just be that the two lists exist to make it clear who was killed by which group.
I'd say the missing people are simply missing and can come back thorough abilities, etc... This seems a good, experienced game, so we should never consider the missing players "out". I also doubt their are two scientology groups that are against each other, just different strike teams working for the "higher good".

    Damn logic. unvote

What is the hard evidence that there are strike teams except for a bit of flavor text?

The people who are missing may come back through abilities, but what will they come back as? If the missing people's roles hadn't been revealed, I would have thought that there was some weight in this theory, but that is highly unlikely according to me.

I think it is most likely that the missing people are those taken out by Scientologists and the dead people are those who die from a lynch or actual kill.

Scientologists aren't exactly the type to promote public murder, and tend to be shrouded in secrecy. Much more likely to just make someone disappear.

That said, can't really discount the possibility that they'll be back; otherwise he wouldn't necessarily have separated them out.

The danger I can see from letting the people back who have been kidnapped is that we as town have several confirmed townies (and several lynch targets if they've hit scum) and any remaining team is due to have its work cut ot.

Not if the Scientologists brainwash players before returning them from the missing.

Well those scientology people are still waiting for Hubbart(?) to come back, so...

Also I agree there was no need for Droid to claim just like that, sound like piggy-backing.

That would turn them into some sort of zombies, wouldn't they?
And also they'd be obvious targets for a lynch.

Agreed. But he stated the abilities(or lack of them) pf a picketer accurately?

Well at the moment the only missing person is a serial killer, so forgive me if I don't really care about the difference between missing and dead.

True, but its a VT role. I bet any of us could state the abilites of a picketer accurately, if we were one or not.

And to be sure he only really stated that point blank after I had done it.

Against the establishment I take to mean the government or at least those in charge, scientologist are not in charge they are the fringe.
