Hello, and welcome to Storyteller's mafia. I am very sorry about the mix-up; I got two mafias that I was planning confused. Don't knock me for it.

--DON'T BASE YOUR ASSUMPTIONS ON THE FALSE EMAILS YOU MAY HAVE RECEIVED! THEY ARE ALL INCORRECT--

Let's start with the rules. They're rather basic.

The rules:
  • Don't edit your posts.
  • Bold your votes.
  • Don't reveal information relating to the game once your character's died.
  • Generally, I prefer open communication games, but this one is closed communication.
  • Don't quote my emails.
  • Please bold your votes and unvotes.
  • I don't care if you talk during the night.

The characters, locations, and players (Living):

    2. Elwyn White--Record store [Heir of Elessar]
    --
    --

    6. Joanne Rowling--LIbrary [BastWorshiper]
    --
    9. Edgar Poe--Center of the Arts [Sir Wulf]
    10. Bram Stoker--Electronics store [Bingo Little]

    11. Charles Dickens--What the Dickens? Fresh Fruit Daily! [Theferret]
    12. Terry Pratchett--Terry's Threads [Newt_Gunray]

Basically, days aren't deadlined as long as there's activity, and night's are limited to ~48 hours, but extension requests will be honored. Lynches are done by simple majority (one half + one). A summary of the previous night's happenings will be posted in the form of the local newspaper. Any questions not regarding your role should be posted here.

    Please confirm here.

OK, guys. I generally don't like starting on Night 0, but I'm going to for the purposes of this game.

Excerpt from the Queen Anne Hill Post-Intelligence:

    April 11, 2010
The murder of John Steinbeck late last night or early this morning has prompted the creation of a kind of lynch mob. The group, calling themselves Mothers Against Awful Murder (MA'AM), has claimed the town-courthouse as its headquarters.
The police, though not condoning such a vigilante-esque group, is not out-right condemning them either. Though many in town disagree with the methods of MA'AM, they seem to be the minority. Most in town, it would seem, whole-heartedly support such a group and have even tried to join. However, the spokesman for the group, a one Terry Pratchett, has told this reporter that they are looking for no new members so long as activity holds strong.
The exact processes that MA'AM uses are blurry, but a few things are clear. Lynchings seem to be rather simple to complete, requiring only one half of the members plus one to vote in favor of a lynch.
Also, that nobody is quite sure of who is who...

Excerpt from the Queen Anne Hill Times:

    April 11, 2010
The members retired to their quarters for the evening...

It is now Night 0. I expect all night actions to be turned into me with ~48 hours.

I'd really prefer no talking at night. Ignoring it negates one of the mafia's abilities and allows for WIFOM that I'll probably get bitchy over later in the game.

A good recent example is Julius' night claim in Scientology mafia.

You really should have made this clear in the signups thread. The chances of me not following through on this game increase dramatically, then again perhaps I'm meaning pessimistic of the people in this game... Or highly rational.

Excerpt from Queen Anne Hill Weekly:

    April 13, 2010
Last night's awesome events have left this small town, well, awe-struck. Never has this town--recently, and uncreatively, dubbed "murderville"--seen so many murders.
After the members of the vigilante group MA'AM retired to their homes, five people were died (four of whom died of natural causes and were not actual members of the town). Among the dead was the ever-quiet Stephen King [Rot], who failed to send in a night-action which might have ended up saving him...."

Excerpt from the Police report regarding the death of Stephen King:
    Officer's notes:
The scene is sickeningly gruesome. There's blood all over the place, and most of it's in a sticky pool by King's feet. The other men all agree, this is the bloodiest killing ever in Queen Anne Hill's history. This is no accident. I sure hope that when I vote today that I'll be voting for this sicko....

    Excerpt from the night-action:
".... And, by the time that moment's over, you're already pinning their arms back, holding their neck out, and picking up the cut throat razor they were shaving with. And soon, well, the razor lives up to it'sits name. There's a lot of blood in the human jugular, and it takes a long time to bleed to death. He struggled and screamed all the way. After a while, I took the bathroom key, flipped it into the other side of the door, and locked him in - he was barely moving by that point. I flicked idly through one of his magazines until I was quite sure he was dead...."

Excerpt from Queen Anne Hill Stranger:

    April 13, 2010
[A whole bunch of stupid shit that we think is funny/alternative. Also, we hate mainstream newspapers.]

Excerpt from Queen Anne Hill Bi-Yearly:

    November, 2009 - April, 2010
Mr. Eoin Colfer was carried out of a Mr. Howard Lovecraft's house early yesterday evening after having apparently fainted. Not much in known about the causes of Mr. Colfer's fainting, but we do know that Lovecraft was reportedly very surprised to see him there....

It is now Day 1, and MA'AM has assembled at the courthouse to do... vigilante type stuff (he finished lamely).

With eleven players left, it takes six votes to lynch. If you request more information, you can sod off (unless I'm honestly forgetting something).

I really feel strongly that a mod shouldn't bow to the wishes of one player; especially when that one player is a known grumpy old fart like Xzy or Wulf who bitch about everything.

Rot isn't much of a loss; if he can't be bothered to send in a night action he was probably just going to pull another "oh I can't be bothered to read the thread, someone just sum it up for me" again.

And a second to Heir's obvious question.

It was Xzyiothe in GoO's house; though I think GoO may have some insight into what was happening or, at least, what happened. I'd like to hear from both of them.

I kind of understand you blind-firing at Stephen King. It does seem reasonable that the horror author would be against the town. However, if you look at the list they are mostly scifi/fantasy writers with a lot of crossover into horror (depending on your definition, I guess): Stoker, Poe, Bradbury.

I thought it seemed odd that King was town, but that wasn't specified in the write-up. I was just assuming that he was killed by the mafia, and why would they kill one of their own? However, if he was vig-killed, that means that the theory of horror writers being against the town isn't necessarily incorrect.

And I haven't read any Lovecraft but Wikipedia defines him as a horror writer, as well.

And, as long as I'm pigeonholing these writers:

Humorists -- Oscar Wilde, Terry Pratchett, Eoin Colfer (?)
    Children's writers -- E.B. White, J.K. Rowling
Fantasy/SciFi -- Ray Bradbury, J.R.R. Tolkien, H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker
    Boring -- Charles Dickens

There's some cross-over. I haven't read any Terry Pratchett or Eoin Colfer, either; so I'm basing their categories on info from Wiki. The two children's writers could be classed as SciFi/Fantasy, as well.

Colfer isn't a humorist. He writes teen/children's sci fi.

I'm a little disturbed that you blindfired night 0. I would think that it's pretty obvious that Mozzy wouldn't give away clues to alignment in the flavor (otherwise the game would be very boring), so blindfiring based on flavor was a poorly thought out idea.

I disagree. I've had a good read on his meta lately.
I killed him. I blind fired my vigilante power. I have no idea what GOO was doing though....
Odd. The first thing I thought when I read the writeup was that the killer was quite a sadist. A vigilante represents his own self justice - he is not a sadist, he wants to correct problems by his own means, not create them.
I kind of understand you blind-firing at Stephen King. It does seem reasonable that the horror author would be against the town.
Rubbish. It wouldn't be this obvious.

Yes, but what were you doing in GoO's house? Saying "panty raid" isn't helping the town

CV, are you single shot or do you have more kills left?

GoO, do you have any idea why Xzy fainted?

I don't know. Or maybe I do know. Unless GoO knows anything, you'll never know.

Oh for crying out loud, not this rubbish again. Acting all mysterious doesn't help the town, it just turns you into a target. For everyone. If you honestly don't know why you were there, just say that.

GoO, do you have any ideas what Xzy was up to?

Oh, you're pissed because I won't give up a light WIFOM? This reminds me of Hells' Kitchen, where you made a scene at every corner to get me to drop any WIFOM. Focusing on every little thing doesn't help the town when you begin to impede scumhunting abilities.

And just so you don't carry on: I don't know why I was there.

I don't see how you think that'll change the situation, though.

Ah yes, the game where you dicked about, acted all mysterious, wanted to play your own game to the detriment of the town and eventually got the game killed.

Actually, I am rather suspicious at the moment of you anyway. Firstly for wanting to lynch CV without waiting to find out if he has any more kills left, and thus if he poses a threat to the town any more or not. And secondly through being found passed out.

We had one kill last night, CV's kill. Now, if CV is indeed a trigger-happy vig that means the scum were conspicous by their absence. Unless we have a cult, this means either they did not put their action in, or it was somehow blocked. Finding someone who has fainted, whilst in someone else's house sounds a hell of a lot like a roleblock to me. So unless someone starts talking sharpish, i'm going to start voting for Xzy until someone gives me a damn good reason not to.

Oh, and for the record i'm away Friday until Sunday on a jolly conference

Stop changing the facts. I played for the town after I used my ability to become a townie (except for when I gave up). Things like hiding I lost my nobility is very pro-town.

I never said I wanted to lynch him. He's suspicious so he has my vote at the moment. And he probably has kills left, who would use their one and only shot on a blindfire? You're not thinking rationally.

I'm not completely sure. I was hoping I didn't have to tell everyone! Now I'm getting killed tonight for sure.

I have several items that I can use that are in my antique shop. I have a poison arrow and some sort of muscle effector or something rather(I used it last night). Don't know exactly what they do I just know by their flavor. I admit I did guess that it was some sort of killing power. I Was guessing that you use it then kill them.

The rest of my items are mostly ancient. I have a tribunal zulu shield. I have a prototype truth serum. And I have a another prototype, a old spartan breastplate. And I have a clay pot. The flavor said something about it being a lot more important then someone would think.

I'm not a vig. I'm a type of inventor. I was hoping I could pass off my kill as a vig. Thanks a lot guys.

    Are you satisfied?

And Mozzie told me in my email that for any items that wouldn't affect the day post I would get a email telling me what they did.

Okay, I don't quite understand. You used the muscle effecter last night and it resulted in the kill?
