Sinking...

Quoted from Macsoft:

Hello,

We cannot support the scenario editor, and I am unaware of any other tools available to create custom content.

Here is the feeble answer I just received from Macsoft, about the fact that a Mac user can not use any single sound or music effect in the editor.
Too bad since this is such a very basic technical problem. 2 minutes of work.
But my 50€.
No other comments.

Well, did you really expect more support then ES is giving us? :P
That problem seems strange though. Can you hear sounds from other peoples scenarios? What is preventing you from putting them in?

Macsoft who translated the game for Macintosh, simply didn't bother to go further than the first browsing level for most of the effects.
If I hit the Effect " browse " button, I can only see 3 choices:
- sound.bar
- SoundXML.bar
- Whit.bar
BUT nothing else, no sub-folders.
And I know all of the sound folders are right there, next to these 3 files!
Only one step further, and we could have access to the sound and music folders. We can not open, neither see or choose any subfolders.
Of course I believe I could type the exact name of the soundfile, since I could hear everything along the campaign, in every effect. I just don't want to do it. Or copy each selected soundfile, without any folder! into the AoE3/sound folder. Just a mess and I don't think you PC guys would be thrilled with the idea of dropping 50 naked files just like that into your sound folder. I wouldn't.
It's so simple. We just need a full path Mac directory access. As it should be.

An open list of the known Mac AoE3 bugs:
About:
  • Cmd-H to switch to desktop without quiting AoE3, as in AoM.?
  • A true Mac OSX finder with folders and sub-folders, as in AoM.
  • Access to sound and music files for designing.
  • AoE3 not being the absolute frontward application when running, as in AoM. Quite difficult to make movie out of the cinematics.
  • and many more.
Should we make a list and mail it to?:
    support@destineerstudios.com
I got some answers from this one, it's Macsoft, but not the designers area.
  • Units, and even explorers, getting stuck for ever into trading posts.
  • [EDIT]Having AoE3 Mac graphics settings options to Shader = Very High!
If you ever wander why AoE3 is said to be a beautiful game... and it's not that stunning on a Mac, that's the reason why. I have the most powerful Mac... of the moment, all configured and dedicated for graphic designing... but can't get any better than: Shader= Medium!!!!
I don't even have the High or Very High options, not even in grey.[EDITED]

My bad. Apologies. It's apparently 'cause I went really cheap when I bought my actual graphic card... So it's just me here, and I promise I'll try to buy a newer brain at the same time.
  • If I live AoE3 running without playing for a short while, I always get a system crash. 10 minutes at the max!
