French Semi-FFTADv1.01

Overview:

  • The aim of this strategy is to harass with hussars, and age to with a good eco, while keeping the opponent busy. The amount of harassment, batches of hussars and age-up politician all depend on the civilization, and their actions. This strategy is incredibly dependent on your opponent, their units, and how they are playing.
    Times:

    Discovery Age

    0:00-0:10:
  • Send two villagers to the nearest animal
  • Each of the other villagers are assigned to their own food crate
  • Start building a villager ASAP
  • First two that are done are sent to a new animal
  • Other crate villager will collect all other crates except gold, and then to the second killed animal, be sure to herd, as now the animal will react when shot
  • Set TC waypoint to the first killed animal
    0:11-0:20:
  • Select scout and set a circle of waypoints around your town then off to explore the rest of map
  • Select Explorer and collect the nearest treasure
    0:21-1:45
  • Get a house or two built with your starting wood
  • Continue building villagers until you have 11 population
  • Continue herding your first hunt
  • Locate second hunt and begin herding as well
  • Get treasures
    1:46-2:15:
  • Send 3 CdB card
    2:16-2:59:
  • Continue microing Explorer for treasures
    3:00-3:15:
  • Click age up
  • Select Quartermaster to receive 400 wood
    Transition

    3:16-4:39:
  • Switch villagers around
  • 8 villagers food

  • 2 villagers wood

  • 4 villagers gold

  • Send scout and explorer to opponents base
  • Stealth scout and place near back of base
  • Screw around with his villagers by shooting them or whatever

  • Colonial

    4:40-4:50:
  • Gather 400 wood with 2 wood villagers
  • With 2 gold villagers, build stable to the side of your base
  • build as many houses as possible with 2 wood villagers
  • send them back too wood

  • Send 4 CbD card
  • Set TC way point to food
  • one villagers should be built then 4 villagers from card also sent to food

  • have 13 villagers on food

  • Set way point to gold
  • keep it at this until needed to switch
    4:51-5:30:
  • Build 5 hussars
  • or build one then add more later
  • RAID RAID RAID
    5:31
  • 6:30
  • if he kills more than two of your hussars, consider build five additional ones
  • Ship 700 gold
  • Collect with 2 wood villagers
    6:31-7:30
  • depending on which path you chose you will either
  • Be about to age up
  • *
  • Building the second batch of hussars
  • *at this point you will choose either:
  • The exiled prince
  • This will be used if they are building a large rushing force
  • The marksman
  • this will be used if they aren’t doing the above
    Fortress

  • This is where the build order ends. By watching the recordings you will be able to see what I most commonly do against each civilization (I will try to against each civilization and see how it works against them). Most common strategy is to start building cuirassiers and shipping skirmishers.

    well written. I usually put about 5/6 cdb on wood during transition get a market+upgrades and then redistribute them back. You should consider doing this as it will help your age time a bit i think and also give you a great eco to spam cuirs/skirms later on .

    i pretty much always choose marksmen when doing hussar semi-ff since when aging 3 i will make goons/cuirs so the skirms from age up + shipment will back up that army nicely. Also when they are rushing you can still often age with skirms since CdB hopping(another reason to build market during transition) + mm(if needed) can usually hold the tc until the skirms arrive to destroy the HI attacking the tc.

    Also, you put 600 gold in picture as 4th shipment? i would either send 700 wood for housing/tp/rax or just save for skirms.

    BTW where are the recordings? you mentioned them, but i don't see any.

    Also don't build your second house before aging to colonial as that is time wasted when the CDB could be on food. You also say send 2 villies to the nearest animal. I send one usually, because if 2 shot, it dies, if one shots, it runs closer to the TC and saves a little time.

    well i say that right in the beginning because the animals dont run for the first 10 seconds or so, so if two villagers shoot it you dont wait for one to reload then shoot again to kill it, they will both shoot, kill it, then go collect.

    also yea im thinking that sending some food villagers to wood to have about 5 during transition to colonial might be better, because i end up with about 500 food once i age, which i wont need until i get the stable up, so yea ill try that and see how it works.
    it will definitely help to have the villager upgrades if you know your opponent will be rushing, along with the pioneers card in case of extreme emergency.

    Since you do not have much of an army in colonial with this strat I would include an early market. That way you can get Blunderbuss and Great Coat and fight of a counter-attack with your Coureurs.

    French always need market. This strategy is good, and should have been posted by someone - i was planning to make it, but you got it so 10 musket semi-ff is also viable vs other ffs, for harassment - their range is sometimes better than your hussars having to go close.

    hmm, tried to do a musket semi ff, but i find i cant harass as well as i can with hussars, this might just be for defending against a heavy infantry rush.. still pondering the idea..

    got a second recording, not the best opponent, but ill get more

    musket semi-ff seems to be good vs civs like ottos IMO so with CdB+muskets you can defend while aging for skirms+falcs+cuirs.
    Also good vs cav civs like germany since your CdB can't stop uhlans then your cuirs come and pwn his xbow+uhlan+pike army

    Yeah, 5 hussar is nice because of raiding, but you can also jump in and shoot down a villager or two then run away and repeat process with muskets.

    But imo these strats don't differ too much from the old semi ff's whatsoever.
