Topic Subject: Scenario Design & Modding: Combined!
posted 09-24-08 11:32 PM CT (US)

Based on a poll we held in both the Scenario Design and ModPack Discussion forums a few weeks ago, a large majority of forumers, from both communities, elected to have these two forums combined into a singular forum: Scenario Design & Modding. The rationale, of course, is that not only would a combined forum be more helpful and active for new forumers with questions, but it'd also give modders with big projects more publicity, as well as giving a very strong foundation to any project combinations of mods and scenarios in the future. That also means the vast amounts of information both communities hold could be shared with everyone!

Rather than a complete merger of the two forums (which would require a *lot* more work), we've moved several threads from ModPack Discussions over to Scenario Design, renamed the forums, and archived ModPack Discussions; the history and information in that forum will be preserved, while giving our new Scenario Design & Modding forum a fresh start.

Don't think that limits to discussions to modding and scenario, of course; you're free to also discuss AI and RMS scripting in the new forum, as well as anything related to both design and modding!

If you have any questions about the merger, feel free to ask in this thread!

I don't know why you couldn't do a full merger with all the threads. IMO there are plenty of useful ( archived ) threads in the modpack discussion forum with info that can be put to a lot of use. Trisolo's (scenario_t_c ) threads are a good example.

I'm not saying that you should go through every thread to decide if it's worth putting in the SD forum, but that a person looking for info on modding will probably miss out on a lot with this new merger. I for example got a wealth of information from old threads of j_c_a, Ykkrosh, Wijitmaker, scenario_t_c and the like.

Hey, I understand your concern, but a forum merger changes the main link of the SD/MPD forum, which is a big problem since everything and it's mother has linked to SD, mergers take hours to do, and unless Zen's there to do it and does a work-around, it sends an e-mail to every single forumer who ever posted a thread in MPD. The method we're using right now saves a *lot* of extra work.

Perhaps we could put the information-relevant threads in article form, or post some kind of thread that links to them, or even add it to the MP Center sticky? Unless you have any other ideas.

It looks really weir and unnatural, but I guess it's for the greater good.
