K, stole this from Vachu...it's not exactly what you want..but it will work...

Quote:

Ok I found out how to change the camera pitch with a viewable effect in the game.

Now I want you to know that you can only change it before you start the game. You cannot change it directly in the game.

Ok here's how to do it :

First you must unpack the file game.cfg from .\AoM\Startup\gamesettings.bar
Put the file in .\AoM\StartUp\

(To unpack it, use any .BAR explorer available. May I suggest mine?)

Now open the file game.cfg with notepad and find the following line : limitPitch=45

Change the value.

Save the file.

Start AoM and check if you feel confortable with the new pitch.

Here's some pitch I've tried (Screenshot as attachement)
There is one .jpg with 4 screenshots in it.
-The first one is 15deg
-The second is 90deg (Top View)
-The Third is 135deg (Reversed 45deg view. It's kinda weird hehe)
-The fourth is a family picture at 10deg

And limitPitch is only one of the settings you can change.

Vachu

You can also add in this to increase the zoom limits.

maxZoom=500
minZoom=20

The minzoom is what allows you to get in close. Zooming in is also affected by the pitch somewhat too. I kept the minzoom the same (20) and tried it with a pitch of 35 and then a pitch of 45 and I believe the 35 allowed me to get in closer (or vice versa). Don't expect really awesome graphics close in though. I was doing some close up shots of a hero and he did'nt even have a mouth.

I obtained this knowledge of the zooming from EO

Hey Dark, When stealing it you could at least have taken the screenshot i posted too...

I tough it was a nice screenshot.

Oh wait its right here :

Image 1 = 15deg
Image 2 = 90deg (Top view)
Image 3 = 135deg (45deg reversed)
Image 4 = 10 deg

balder.prohosting.com/levachu/pitching.jpg

And this other screenshot shows my first mod that can auto-install (But this screen is mainly to show another 15deg screen):
balder.prohosting.com/levachu/screen10.jpg

To get this mod, go here : balder.prohosting.com/levachu/VillageGrunt.zip

Just unzip directly to your AoM folder. Then, go into \mods\villagegrunt\ and execute ModApply.exe to try it out.

*sigh* Changing this part wont change the height of the terrain:

Quote:

// Terrain editing height limits
terrainMinHeight=-5.0
terrainMaxHeight=15.0
useTerrainHeightLimits
useMix
mixUseValidPlacement

How do I get rid of the mod?

DK
posted 08 November 2002 10:34 PM EDT (US)     10 / 22
Hahaha. Good question...

No seriously just remove those files :

-In .\AoM\Models\Low\
All files
-In .\AoM\Models\
All files with "villager" in it
-In .\AoM\Textures\Icons\
All files
-In .\AoM\Sound\
The .xml and .xmb

I'd like to make a mod remover but VB6 and WinXP have some issues. I cannot delete files from a VB program. So WinXP users could not benefit from the remover.

I'm looking for an alternate solution.

Vachu, could you please post the link for your .bar extractor?

A question for Vachu: is the view permanently locked in that particular camera angle adjusted before the game?

You need Perl56.dll
Put it in the same directory.

Hey guys, I've found something that I think you would find interesting:

if you create a Camera Track (aka cinematic) in a modified camera angle (such this one by Vachus http://balder.prohosting.com/levachu/screen10.jpg ), and save the scenario... the camera angle is saved by the scenario.

This means that when someone download your scenario and view the cinematic, they will see the cinematic in that particular angle, even if they don't have the angle edited !.

PS has anyone figured out how to make a waterfall?

Go to :

1. Place Objects

2. In W, find Waterfall

easy??

Alex :

The camera is locked in that angle for the whole game. Sorry it's the only way that has been found right now.
