Yeah, tonight I messed with typetest.xml and other files I have and came up with a working Change Current HP effect. It doesn't work for armies, only for units you can select on the map in the editor(though I think you could pick a Cinematic Block for later). It won't change the max HP though, just the current HP(typing a value above max will bring the HP to maximum).

Well, basically what you do is Select a unit like with any other trigger and typing the HP in the HP text field. It doesn't cause version changing nor OOS's so it can be permanently installed on your computer. The effect name is "Change Current HP"(I wasn't original at all).

Oh and the player doesn't need to have the edited typetest.xml to play your scenario. Even if he doesn't have the mod, the effect will work fine.

Yes, it works fine online, so it wont change your version. I've tested it... though only for a short time. I didnt test it with a scenario yet though. I suspect that if the person without the typetest.xml *MIGHT* OOS, since it is not listed for them.

Also, since it does nto change Max HP, if and when your unit goes below the Max HP and you try to heal it, it will not get above the Max HP. So, maybe you should keep in mind to make these guys a bit stronger .

No, someone without the modded typetest.xml can play the scenario just fine. Since the command is in the AoM.exe.

But it would not be able to know what it does, since typetest is the one that shows it what to use (which is trUnitSetHP( )).

Oh yeah.. I just noticed that AoM does nto send RMS?!?!
It keeps kicking the peopel out who does not have it...

No, the effect is not in typetest. Effect is directly in the exe...or scenario I'm not fully sure.

I got the clue when you sent me that decompressed scenario that listed tons of things.

These scns are excessively big. They list every unit and trigger! Even terrain type! If they removed it.. the SCNs would be so much smaller hehe...

Its no so much editing units' HP, as much as hurting them, is it?

Sorry I'm so saddistic but I just created 20+ triggers that were exactly the same because of no copy 'n paste. (Wait, what does saddistic mean?)

Well yeah, title is misleading

But it's more catchy

Though Set Current HP is right term, it doesn't damage since it can heal too. It Sets the current HP of the unit.

Yes it does work.

Just one little point for clarity sake here; after installing it, I was really frustrated for a bit, unable to find any such Trigger in my Trigger List – looking for “Change Current HP.”

It actually appears much further down the list, as – “Set Current HP by EO…”

I finally found it…

I wonder if you might make another Trigger?
If you ever feel like it, maybe? It would really be nice to have an actual ‘Damage Object’ Trigger (such as we had in AoK).

I’ve tried this one for that purpose, and though it does work to the extent it lowers the HP’s and fire will appear on severely HP-lowered objects (buildings) – there’s no ‘visible damage.’
An ability to ‘place’ cracked and crumbling walls in settings of old ‘ruins’ would be a major bonus for AOM Scn. Design I think.
Just a little nugget for thought and possible consideration?

I don’t even know whether it’s possible – and I’m about 847 million light years from able to do anything of the sort.

Thanks tons & bunches for this one tho’! Really nice to have another valuable trigger in the list.

G'job! I wonder, can you use the same thing to set unit scale, attack, armor, and so on?

[EDIT] BTW, now you can make your Dwarf Soccer scenario (or whatever it was to be called). I experimented with such a thing myself and managed to get it working with a looping Restoration effect. It makes some noise but it heals very quickly.

so if i give a militia 500 hp it doesnt show up but when he is attacked he can absorb up to 500 hp of that. PLEASE CLARIFY.

It does not raise the maximum HP. It only changes the HP within the allowed maximum (if a unit has a maximum HP of 200, you cant set it above 200). It really would just be used for healing or damaging. Not to make a uber unit hehe...

Lionness:Nope, I can't make a damage effect that will make it visible(since that's graphical stuff and I doubt I could edit that kind of hardcoded things(removing fire and replacing it by ruined building)).

Matei:Yeah, I can easily use that trick to make the dwarf have its max HP continuously, so when I get back to my dwarf kickin scenario, I'll add that.

I'll fix the readme and misc stuff tonight.

Just set the hp higher than maximum.. set it to loop and set condition as always.. and you got a "unbeatable" unit...
it's not really necessary to set maximum hp except you want to design a rpg scn..
(this game about mythology.. so.. anyway.. ^^" )
Now I wonder.. if someone can find a way to change unit's name.. that would be good.. ^^

Nice work!

On a much simpler subject. I think you might be able to put your own custom music into AOM. (Must be MP3 files though.)

I was able to play an MP3 clip with a trigger once I put the clip into the music folder. If there is a file that would tell AOM to play certain MP3's at a time, I feel it could be changed so that instead of listening to the old AOM music, you could put in something that you want to listen to. (Got this idea from someone's AOC scenario. They set up a trigger to play a sound, which turned out to be a music track from a song. Simple to use in the AOM editor but replacing the game music might take some digging in files.)

GOTD_FireCobra, who doesn't know that? Ever since AoK, you could play music with ES' editors. And with AOM, there's plenty of triggers for sounds and music. Lets not bring this off topic now though.

Im talking about a regular game, ect. a RM one. (Changing the music for the game, not just a scenario or 2.)

Anyways, you guys can go back to talking about the HP trigger. I do have plans for it...
