Certainly you should continue!

I've never seen this mod, but I've heard of it once or twice. I eagerly await your update.

Thanks Caesar and xingjianma,

Now to start off my beginning territories:

and my Crusader State, the Holy Land is divided between England, France and the HRE

And some unit cards, the Mailed cavalry and Frontline men are the basic units and the Feudal Knights are the equivalent of Principe minus the Pilum.

Going Rebel hunting, I don't think I will attack here without a bigger army!

and after only a few turns we are the richest faction, one thing about this mod is the low upkeep rates and richer, more advanced and happier cities, making large scale battles and larger enemy armies commonplace from the first few turns.

Sharing map info with Allied factions. The English, the French, the Sicilians and the HRE are the equivalents of the houses of Juili, Scippi, Brutii and SPQR respectively, and they all start as Allies,

I thought England's request was a bit funny.

Making Friends with neighbours is a must in this game

Now all that Book-keeping is done, this campaign may get interesting very soon, so watch this space!

Note: battle will follow shortly, in future I will try to put at least on battle per post.

Edit: battle will be posted here.

I attacked Pisa, here are the opposing armies

Hrmmm, it seems that some of the original RTW units are still here.

My Faction Heir + his bodyguard.

The Enemy Feudal Knights.

and General

It seems the Warbands are exactly the same

My cavalry wing, most of my battle are won by my cav

The gate house my men captured whilst the main force distracted the majority of the enemy.

my cav moving to the captured gate house trying to capture the square.

One of my family members sees the enemy general and all my cav charge, with predictable results.

The unit of Feudals defending the square.

While on the main wall another unit of Feudals, mine this time, fight against a warband.

The fight for the Square.

The rest of the enemy army leaves it's position and rushes to the square.
I meet them head and side on.

The enemy chose to flee rather than die, this turned to desperation as they were slaughtered.

The result was never in doubt

I choose to occupy.

A pic of the Holy Land, one of my objectives.

One of the settlements that I bribed, I forgot about it and it revolted, only to be besieged by England.

Cyprus, my stepping stone to Jerusalem.

Another settlement I bribed, this one South-East of the last one.

Oh, and I have trade rights with Hungary.

Hey, really nice AAR, and I've got some questions about the mod.

First off, what version of the mod is this? Is this Rome Medieval 1 or 2?

Secondly, do you have your graphics on the campaign map turned down? In my version you can see reflections of clouds on the water, and the terrain is more detailed.

Thirdly, what is the state of your vanilla RTW? In mine (because I didn't make more than one copy of my RTW folder) there are some graphical glitches in vanilla RTW, and I was wondering if you had the same errors.

Thanks, and once again, great AAR.

Thanks guys,

*Primo, yes this mod is like M2TW for those whose computers can't run it.

*General_Zavier,
1. I don't know but I know it's the latest.

2. yes, unfortunately my computer won't run the higher visuals, I was surprised with the level of detail for the units, they are much better than those of vanilla RTW.

3. I haven't played vanilla much but I will do some testing, I know that Rome Medieval has it's own mod folder thought.

Sorry guys (and girls) but I may only have time for one update a week, I've got a few assessment items coming up, so stay tuned.

Why, Thankyou Hobojoe, and welcome to the forums.

Ok next post.

A few turns have passed since my last update, not much has happened so far, I have been gathering an army in Italy for an attack on Milan.

The Milanese launched a preemptive strike against us though.

Here are some pics of the Caribbean, Florida and Canada respectively.

Hrmm, This boat has a lot of troops on it, but it landed it's men before I had a chance to attack it, blast!

Bad news, our survivors from the failed bribed settlements have been attacked by England, We are at WAR!, but because England attacked me, France and Sicily are allied with the English instead of me.

Nice battlefield, an Inland sea and a view of Cyprus as well, My men will die with style, always a good thing.

A pic of my Teutonic Knights and some crossbowmen.

Some pics of England's Crusading army.

My cav lead their cav up a hill, away form my peasants.

my cav flank and destroy a unit of Knights, before heading onto the next.

and the next.

Some of their foot knights dispatched to destroy my peasants.

It turns out they are not needed, it only takes one group of Knights one charge to rout all my infantry.

The aftermath.

Meanwhile, my already exhausted cav had been racing to the infantry's rescue, after watching them flee, decide for a death or glory charge into those two units of Foot Knights you saw before.
There was no glory this day.

The current political standings.

I attack Genoa, the original plan for the Italian front, but that boat's troops get drawn in as well.

Here is the reinforcing army, right where they are supposed to be.

And here is the reinforcing army's general dying.

Here is some of the routers getting run down by my Mailed Cav.

Here's a new unit, it looks like Noble Cav mounted on mailed horses.

This is what the reinforcements look like after I'm done with them.

The few survivors rally.

Is it just me or does this building look bigger than on Vanilla?

Gee, these Noble Cavalry aren't too smart, all they wanna do is stand and get shot at by the gate house.

Meanwhile, I sneak in through the side.

Most of their army congregate at the square.

All except the Noble Cavalry.

The enemy general, a stereotypical Italian, he is Catholic and Has a Large family. (sorry to all you Italians out there, I hope you can see the funny side.)

Finally, those Nobles come back.

I wonder why.

OH NOES, that general is in trouble, I had better send a rescue party.

And there he is, Alive, thank goodness that he survived.

Easy Victory.

Some units I recruit to go capture Milanese Corsica.

I build a Fort to hold off that army, but the game says it's a castle, I haven't had a chance to see if its true.

Oh dear, This can't be good.

Ok, This is gonna get really interesting really quick. Just one question, How do I Hyperlink this into my Signature? help would be much appreciated.

Ciao,

I have not had a chance to really keep up with this or the other AARs lately, but what I have seen looks very cool.

As far as adding a link to your signature, it uses standard bbcode. There is a reference guide here.

Looking great. The upkeep for units must be REALLY low though, the way your finances have skyrocketed. Means more big battles in the future, eh?

I tried this mod out, and while it seems pretty good, it's lacking a few things.

One thing I noticed is how only one or two factions have a unique unit, that kind of dissapointed me.

And also, for me at least, it runs a bit slow on my computer.

But yeah, for the most part, it's a pretty great mod!

I think the most expensive upkeep is 300 denarii per turn.

Sorry for the uber-long wait. Good news though, I absolutely the assignments I had.

Now for the update.

We are Besieged in the Middle-East.

And by the Sicilians.

The Milanese launch an attack on Vienna.

One of the minor faults, The Milanese are labeled as Gauls.

The deployment.

The ram attacks.

And the ram fails.

Curiously, All the A.I did after the ram failed was stay still.

Finally, some movement.

And more Failure.

Don't know what two men were going to do against this.

Finally, some competition.

Don't know about you, but this seems like an all out assault, against my tired, worn-out troops.

and what an assault. up the ladders and onto the walls.

My troops fight to the death, determined to hold out for the final minutes.

Sadly, all the men perished, but the city survives! Chalk me up for 574 infantry.

And here is a bit of a preview.

I will try to get the next post up ASAP.

any advice would be much appreciated.

Nice save for your city.

It's funny to see minor faults in mods like the one for Milan, I also noticed that the Milanese general's name was Brennus, which is a Gaulish name in vanilla. So one more rough spot.

I also noticed that the Milanese general's name was Brennus, which is a Gaulish name in vanilla.
Well, the Milan faction is based on the Gaul faction from vanilla.

I've done some slight editing to the game files to make the game more fair. Because all the units have two hit points, I've upped the charge bonus to around 10 for all cavalry (instead of five) and I've made it so the generals get three hitpoints instead of two. I would highly recommend doing this, it really makes the game much better because cavalry has more power to it like it should during this time period.

Looking good, nice defense of Vienna.

Well, I came back after a long break, reinstalled RTW and RM on my pc inserted my save files into the folder, and they didn't work, my guess is that they were corrupt, so It looks like the HRE journey ends here folks, I am terribly sorry for my mistake, but sometime in the future I will start a new ARR.
Terribly sorry,
