"Greetings. I know you are all feeling an utmost
level of confusion at the moment and I'd imagine anger is beginning
to settle in. These things are side effects of what I used to sedate
each and every one of you, and I apologize. But more to the point, you
are in a game of survival. Perhaps this realization has already come to
you, and perhaps not. I personally expect one person has already died as
this message is being broadcast; humankind is a very interesting subject.
So, consider this an experiment. By today's standards this experiment would
not be acceptable, but by mine, this experiment is vital to understanding
society. I assume that upon hearing the phrase 'survival of the fittest' and
being trapped in this rundown house with hostile strangers induces fear in
you, and that is precisely what I want. Because this test is rather
unethical, the winner of this game will receive a grand prize of five
hundred thousand dollars.

You just lost the game.

Do not edit your posts - double post if necessary. Discretion from the mod will be used to determine a punishment if needed. Make sure you include everything you want to say into one post to avoid multiple-posting/editing; preview your posts several times.

Do not reveal any information (including investigation results, specifics about your role, etc.) after your character has died. Up until then you may reveal anything except when noted.

This game is closed communication - strategize in this thread only, unless your role states otherwise. You may sometimes be what is called a mason partner (in my games, masons are not always Town, eg. freemasons), or mafia, the primary enemy of the Town. These circumstances are most commonly where you may communicate with other players in the game secretly.

No strategizing during the night phase, such as telling the doctor who to protect, the cop to investigate, etc. I do allow talking at this time, however.

Follow HG's Code of Conduct at all times.

Do not directly quote any emails whatsoever. Paraphrase.

During the day phase, players vote to lynch by a solid majority. If the lynch majority is met, there is no turning back. You cannot unvote to discount the lynch. To cast your own vote type Vote: "Name". It's preferred that you bold it.

If you change your vote or decide to keep from voting for a while, type Unvote. Also preferred that you bold it.

"Oh, Jesus," the words rang out. But it was darkness. These
two factors gave way for the most amount of confusion one could possibly
have. Only certain thoughts could arise. Did I get wasted last night? Did
I get drugged up, and are my kidneys going on eBay? The latter would be
the most suitable explanation, the most relevant one that could arise. "Oh, Jesus."

"What the..."

Just as a voice said that, a girl shrieked. Only voices could be heard
through the darkness. "Someone turn on the Goddamn lights."

Then the lights came on. But no light switch was to be found. Someone
turned them on, from the outside. The house seemed rather old and run
down. In fact, it was so normal-looking, as if a very poor family resided
there, the first thought to enter everyone's heads was, "Does someone live
here, and are they here this very instant?"

"I got an envelope in my pocket."

"Yeah, so do I."

"'The hell is this, man?"

There was also an envelope on the table, which was presumed to be the dining
room table. The envelope only attracted the attention of some, for others were
too worried to think of such minimal things. For a rundown house, it was very
spacious, as there was even a stairwell, leading to an abyss of darkness up above.
A man dressed in a priest's robe grabbed the envelope on the table and unraveled it;

Hint #1: Insane Cops are just as helpful as Sane Cops.

It is now Day 1.

Perhaps there are no insane cops? Or that insane cops know that they're insane, so if they get an innocent on someone they'll know that that person is actually scum?

Judging by the write up, it looks like this mafia has been inspired by SAW. Oh and also Ashrzr has hosted a similar themed mafia before here. It was a raging success.

Not so sure what to make of this:
Hint #1: Insane Cops are just as helpful as Sane Cops.
They are just as helpful, but only if the insane cop has worked out their insane. Maybe it's something to worry a cop (if we have one).

I should also point out reading behaviour in this game is going to be rather difficult, because somebody may have played pro-town but then half way through the game became a SK. And I'm not sure about everybody else I'm playing with but Rot is a player that would absolutely love to become a serial killer.

I agree with ABU, it seems inspired by Saw.

If that's correct these hints are true, we'll likely get more as the game progresses. I can only guess that we got a simple one to start.

It seems like we may have a priest based on that, if anyone wants to claim a priest portion of their role they probably should. Should we find a lynch candidate today we can test it out aswell.

Becoming a Killer:
Do you have it in you to abandon your past life, possibly ignore your previous principles, and become a killer? People can choose to become a Faith Serial Killer (75% chance of carrying out the kill, not 50%), and earn money from their victims. Everyone knows how much they're worth, and their character's previous occupation, and can choose to keep it a secret, or reveal it. The serial killers can buy a one-shot of a selection of abilities from the accumulated money they get. Buyable abilities are: Investigation ($15), Roleblocking ($22) Tracking ($33), Stone ($38), Ghost ($42) Iron For the Night ($45), Self-Isolation for the Night ($55).
Sounds the exact type of think you'd love to do.

This is the guy who when given a Unalligned role and was told he could choose between being mafia and town, he specifically asked if he could be a serial killer.
I mean, if you all know that I want to be one, and I have to make a decision to become one, I might as well not, because then you'll just lynch my.
I didn't realize that if you chose to become a serial killer we'd all immediatly know of it.
I was hoping that it might just happen, so that I could just be like BAM!
I agree though, I think this would be much better if it was a hidden condition, where we didn't know other people could choose to become one.

Alternatively we could all choose to become serial killers and have a massive free for all tonight.

Sounds great on the surface, and I almost did that, but that wouldn't really work. I'll explain why after the game.

Did anyone else receive a message that you could become a Serial Killer IN their role e-mail? I did, and it was pretty much a copy-paste from the sign-up thread. I find it odd that Rot didn't, so one of the following must be true:

1. I'm unique and special.

2. Rot didn't read his e-mail.

3. Rot didn't need to be told he was a serial killer because he already is one.

But then, I don't see Rot doing number two, and there wasn't a kill last night. So can someone chime in and soothe my massive ego before I pick number one?

Also, I was not informed that I could become a serial killer in my role email as far as I can tell. I didn't even know I had a monetary value. I did just get an email saying I had one, though. My role email was just flavor and stuff, and then my role.

For fairly obvious reasons. I'm town and have the option to become a SK if I choose too. The only reasons Rot wouldn't have it are mod mistake or he's already got a role identical to the SK. Can't see a killer, or member of a two-man mafia (if there is one) getting the option to become an SK.

I can become a SK to. And I'm thinking perhaps that maybe Rot has already chosen to become one, and is trying to play dumb and acting like he can't become one. Because if theres anybody whose going to choose SK it's Rot. Or maybe he doesn't have the choice if he's telling the truth, which might mean he's mafia.

I doubt anyone has taken up the option to become a SK this early, especially Rot. Tempted as he may be to do so, he's normally a cop magnet; tonight he's bound to investigated (assuming our cop doesn't go SK )
